I am a first year a graduate student at A&M and I am pretty disappointed. I have had to take some requisite courses so I can give advice for both grad and undergrad experiences.
Undergrad student body are misguided and would rather dance and socialize then study. Grad students are angry and defensive. Undergrad and grad staff are helpful but unfortunately most departments have lowered the bar in terms of academics so they don't expect much from students. Administrative staff in patton hall are absolutely horrible and could less about students. My best advice to new students is become a survivor! Do your financial aid the first day and do wait because they will drop your classes out of the system. Do not bother trying to do things over the phone. This is not a normal university and you have to do everything in person. A&M is a below average HBCU and that fact is ingrained within the community, until that changes the school will continue to lag behind. Academically sound students need to be their own advocates.
