Super Brilliant
Auburn University looks better from the outside than it is when you get there. The landscaping is nice, everything is nice (although the buildings are all different architecture with some white and some brick on campus- kinda weird) But overall, if you are a space cadet and like to wander around a beautiful sunny place, this is the place for you. However, upon getting into the real stuff, you will find that Auburn is a university that fails to stimulate the minds of students. There is a total lack of opportunity for creative output, and this is coupled with the lack of creative students. The result is a sad situation of a University with no significant opinion or openmindedness. Football couldn't be better (13-0) and all the sports are pretty good but seriously, don't go to Auburn. You won't get any smarter.

I'm an asian student, who had no idea
how people can be so close-minded.
I must admit, people treats you very nice and friendly,
as you would see in the movies or whatever.
But it's not just about the diversity, which is none.
I was surprised since I'm from LA maybe.
Whites with whites, blacks with blacks, and everybody
else seem to be ignored.
There are few who's not like that.very rare though.
You'd go to a bar and all they'd play is country or
one of those classic rock.
I have been to 4 different bars so far since I came here
a few months ago.
I had seen few blacks, no asians.
Coincidence? I don't think so.
Plus, this small town has few things to offer that
you can't really get away.
Besides, everybody is everybody's highschool classmate
or a cousin or a relative.
I'm getting good grades so that I could get away from
here as soon as possible.
Conservative, republican(you'll see the stickers everywhere),
and not looking for meeting people? This is your best shot.

Super Brilliant
After a semester at AU, I feel as if I have been lied to by the University. I was given a list of rankings and honors given to AU and have found most to be either exaggerations or complete lies. I was told how great the ME department at Auburn was but have found it to be horrible. The technology here sucks, the engineering departments lacks the basic computer and machinery technology that is required for a successful career in engineering. My high school better combined technology and education than this university. Most of the students and faculty are practically computer illiterate; therefore, making it impossible to fully utilize the very limited technology Auburn does have. In addition, the academic programs are not the least bit challenging and I can honestly say I have not learned anything from my classes. The student body is a disappointment to say the least. This place is redneck central!! Everyone (almost) is extremely racists and completely backwards in ideology; some of the frats have had a mock lynching as a party theme (www.chronicle.com). They do not value diversity to any degree and demonstrate overt bigotry combined with total ignorance. Don’t plan on having an intellectual conversation with anyone; they have no clue as to current events or any other intellectual area. The only thing anyone about here is getting drunk, stoned, and what person they going to have sex with this night of the week. Again, more lies. The whole town here sucks, it is in the middle of nowhere and there is no real entertainment in Auburn. The only thing to do is go to a shitty bar and get drunk, which is the main focus of everyone here. In exploring future job opportunities, I have found that AU has lost the respect of employers and other universities (assuming it was every respected). SACS is one the verge of revoking its accreditation and most students don’t know or care. My advice to prospective students is RUN AWAY QUICKLY. I can’t wait until this semester is over, I’m transferring out of here.
