Your college experience is what you make of it. After reading many negative comments on Auburn, I have to bash them. Obviously they weren't motivated enough to get off their butts and find out what's great about Auburn. Auburn is definitely not the school to go to if you just want to go to class and hang out on the weekends. Really, there's not a whole lot around Auburn. There are places to eat, a movie theater, and limited shopping. However, if you get involved around campus and get to know your professors, and make friends (which isn't hard at Auburn at all) you'll have a blast! Auburn is one of the friendliest places on earth. I'm not from the south and it took me many weeks to get used to everyone (even people I didn't know) saying hi to me between classes on the concourse. I love Auburn, and I miss Auburn. If I had my way I'd be a student at Auburn for the rest of my life. There's no way I'd have made the choice to go anywhere else. I was accepted to many "prestigious" schools and am currently attending one of them for grad school. It doesn't add up to Auburn in any way! Don't let these people who are bashing Auburn give you any opinion of the school. Go and see it for yourself. They're too lazy to see why Auburn's good and thought that everything would be so easy and they need to grow up. Amen to the guy who said Gary Waters is the best instructor in the business school!

My experience at Auburn was excellent. The students and, for the most part, faculty were friendly and easy to get along with. I could always find a pickup game of football or basketball. The girls were indeed the most beautiful the world has to offer. In fact, that's where I met my wife.

I was only a mediocre student due to my inability to concentrate (diagnosed with ADD as an adult). The opportunity was there; I just missed it. I was very immature at the time. Advice to current or future students would include: 1)stay one or two weeks ahead in your reading for classes; 2)if you need help from a professor, be a thorn in their side until you get the help you need; 3)identify the better students in your classes immediately (hint: they usually sit in the front); 4)enjoy yourself.

I would add that there are a number of good churches in the area. The one my wife and I attended was Lakeview Baptist Church. Their Pastor is an excellent preacher of the Word. Their Minister of Students is a gifted and caring man, a good example for all.

If you are not obsessed with football and frat parties you might feel out of place. The town is small and does not have a lot of activities to do outside of campus except a park nearby and restaurants and cheap bars. Most people here are from the South.
