Finishing my junior year, I can say thatQuite BrightCommunications
Finishing my junior year, I can say that I'm pretty happy with my choice of JSU. I think overall, you are treated pretty well here. Lots of stuff to do on campus if you get involved. If you don't you will be miserable since the town is a dump with nothing to offer. The residents treat most students like we're an inconvenience. But there is nothing here but the school. Crime in the surrounding area is high, so be careful. The people make this school great, since it can't compete with the large Universities- there just isn't a budget for that. But tuition and fees, while it seems fairly reasonable, it's pretty much what you would pay at Alabama or Auburn. Communications is kind of a joke. Outdated radio and TV equipment. they really need upgraded equipment. I just did my internship in Huntsville, and coming back to the studios on campus was depressing. Just some things to consider.

Just finished my first year and love itQuite BrightEducation
Just finished my first year and love it at JSU. It's known for being a great teacher's school, and I think it is. We just got a new President, so it will be interesting to see what direction the school goes. It really is a very friendly campus. Football and band are really great here. A lot of poor kids here on aid or working their way through school. Enrollment has been dropping with cuts to financial aid nationally so it's hard to keep students enrolled. That's sad because it's a great little school. They really need to market and build it up. But it's very nice here.

It is a regional school. Undergrad life is local and quiet. However, many folks are able to make friends. As a grad student, I lived near campus (extremely cheap) and got to know a few undergrads. Most grad students work full time and take night classes. I liked my classes and profs. The admin is a bit out of touch and really focuses on the football stadium. This is an inexpensive school. As such, they don't have a lot of resources. In general, it will carry you as far as you let it.
