Positive Negative Neutral Advice
I attended AU just before the name changeReligion/Religious
I attended AU just before the name change and earned a M.A. in Biblical Studies. The faculty is top notch. I took courses mostly online but also on campus. The campus is, let's face it, unimpressive, but who cares! The undergraduate program is entirely online. If you are looking for a traditional campus experience you won't find it here. If you are looking for credits that transfer and programs that are accredited, this is the real deal. Most of the courses in my program required reading assignments, online assignments and participation and a term paper of roughly 30 pages. It was my impression that a good number of the students were foreign (English not the first language) or military with the government picking up the tab. They generally didn't work very hard or participate in the online discussions to any significant degree. They probably didn't do to well and many dropped out. But if you put in the work, you got a good education. I highly recommend their graduate theology programs, especially if there is no nearby program. It was ideal for me.

Question
If you are an open-minded, intelligent, critical thinker.Quite BrightSocial Work
If you are an open-minded, intelligent, critical thinker. This is not the school for the you. I understand that it's a Christian University but jeez, some of their views and approaches to ethical topics and human concerns are so myopic and archaic it's quite SAD. In quite a number of classes, all you have to do, when testing, is agree with the conservative view of the author and you'll get an "A". In many cases, I just answered the opposite and what I knew to be true to pass. Not challenging at all! Changing the name of the school was a good start, but they truly need to stop trying to walk that very fine line believing that they are somehow saving Christian values. They aren't. It could be argued that schools like this are halting intellectual integrity and scientific progress. If you want a quick degree just to have the paper from an accredited school, then go for it. But immediately seek a Masters degree at some other school once you graduate. Amridge is truly an academic joke.

Question
Despite reports, this school is NOT a completelyBrightReligion/Religious
Despite reports, this school is NOT a completely online school. Though it offers many degrees online as do most universities, it also offers residential degrees. All graduate theology degrees require a residential component. It is an accredited university - primarily Church of Christ, but tolerant of differing views- orthodox and non-orthodox. It has a beautiful campus in Montgomery, Alabama.
