Their parents also fund their social lives (fraternities, parties, alchohol, women and/or men). Also funded by their parents is the new football coach they get every so often. This institution puts more money into beating Auburn than they do their academics. (and they still havent beaten them in 5 years!) Every time I leave this town I feel like I need a shower, it's definately the dirtiest town I've ever been to. Yet, the locals claim it is the greatest thing since sliced bread! (actual quote) If you don't have money to pay for friends(greek friends), then don't plan on making any friends. If you don't care about a losing football program, then don't come here. If you want to spend 4-5 years learning how to live your life in denial, or the past, UAT is the place for you! I'm transferring to Auburn. Sorry Bama, you dont cut the mustard. However, I will note that it is my fault for going there sight unseen. I accepted to go there simply for my full scholarship, and that it was closer to home(VA) than other places that had offered me the same. It was my first trip into the DEEP South... I had no idea racism was such a big problem still. The total culture shock hits me with a bag a bricks everywhere I go. Discrimination is OK among much of the student body. Girls don't go to college to learn; they go to find husbands. The Greek system is fueled by socially retarded men and women. The entire situation is very frustrating. Many classes are packed like sardines and use scan-tron test (which in my opinion is not really learning). I lived in three places 2 of which were broken into (LOCK UP EVERYTHING). My parking pass was stolen out of my car and when I went to tell them about it they told me I had to pay them $60. Parking is a BIG FUCKING deal there. The studenst have labeled the people who deal with the parking services parking Nazi's. I got a ticket during student orientation there. The parking is awful, when you do find a space it is a little section with a little sign that you missed (because of all the traffic and people walking) that turns out to be faculty parking which you then pay a hefty fine. EVERYTHING is more expensive here, food, books, and even when i transferred out it was more expensive to send my transcripts from UA. while the teachers are relatively nice, the rest of the faculty is RUDE. I found a nice little quite room in the library one time to study and was told to "get out" like i was commiting a crime. If you arent greek you arent cool on this campus. so is this a business or a place to learn? didnt get much from the latter. Campus Aesthetics: A, Education Quality: F Have a Question?
