 | Bright | If you want a worthless piece of paper (UA degree) that will never help at all toward a future career. Go to the University of Alabama. You may be unemployed and broke for the rest of your life, but at least you will be able to brag about college football to the rest of the homeless people you will be living with on the streets. | Preparedness: F, Reputation: F | | |

| | Not so bright | Before you come to The University of Alabama you need to really sit down with yourself and do some serious self evaluating. First off if you are an out of state student and you have to take out ANY kind of loan to go to this university? DON?T! Second, if you do not plan to be in a sorority or fraternity here then you better have some one of a kind social skills, know a hand full of non Greeks before you come, or get involved in some other extracurricular activity. The University of Alabama really is a good deal as far as tuition goes for instate students, but as far as out of students go it?s a complete rip off. Not only is the tuition a complete rip off but once you become a student they nickel and dime you for every penny you?re worth with parking tickets, poor quality meal plan food, and multiple other small fees that don?t seem to be so small and really add up. The social scene can pretty much be summed up in one word?. GREEK. When I came to the University I had a completely open mind and thought that because I was an out of state student going Greek would be a great way to meet close circle of friends, but I couldn?t of been more wrong. Not only is Alabama one of the biggest Greek oriented schools in the SEC, but they are also the most superficial. Although some houses are better than others, each sorority revolves around how rich you are, what David Yurman you have, and if you can keep up with all the rest of the latest trends. Girls actually ask you what sorority you?re in before they ask you what your name is when you first meet them! Not only are the girls completely close-minded and superficial, but it?s also a good 5 to 6 grand a YEAR TO JOIN! If you think that?s insanity the fraternities are around 7 grand to join and if you?re a guy you can completely forget about having a social life if you aren?t Greek. There a good amount of students who don?t go Greek, but because the campus is so big you could meet someone worth your time one day and never see them again. Academically if you are looking for anything remotely challenging then Alabama is not your place. And even though Alabama is a well known university you should go somewhere worth your tuition money for a more reputable school with a more friendly student environment. Everyone?s opinion is different but I have found out real quick that this is not the place I want to spend the supposedly best four years of my life. | Campus Aesthetics: A+, Individual Value: F | | | |

| | Quite Bright | The University of Alabama is a Business. BIG Business. People should understand that. The place is designed to do everything but stick a vacuum cleaner in your pocket when you get on campus. And, the degree is a joke. Don?t expect to be able to get a job with your degree. The degree may have a little value within the State of Alabama; however, if you plan to work in ANY other state ? go elsewhere. UA is a place for stupid Greeks, getting drunk, and going to football games. It?s easy to get in and even a Monkey can graduate with a B average. Also, PLEASE don?t take out a student loan to go here! Trust me, you will regret it. I graduated a few years ago and I still haven?t been able to even touch the principle on my loans. Not only has my Alabama Degree not helped me with a career, it has permanently damaged my standard of living. I constantly struggle to pay my student loans every month. Each month is a reminder of how useless my UA degree has been. The Career Center is a joke. Basically, UA is a place that takes your money, gives you a worthless piece of paper (you pay for that too), and shows you the door. I made a mistake going there. Don?t make the same mistake I did. If you want a higher ed degree, at least go somewhere that will make your time (& money) worthwhile. | Starting Job: Delivery person , Preparedness: F, Reputation: F | | |
