My decision to attend this university for myAug 22 2012Education
My decision to attend this university for my Master's degree was basically a given for me. However, knowing now what I wished I would have know then, I would have completed my Masters at UAB or Alabama Tuscaloosa. I had 9 hours of graduate coursework from UA Tuscaloosa but money and other personal reasons entered into the final decision. In my area of counseling, there were always one staff position being changed. (Always the best faculty member there.) The other faculty were not willing to help students with research, they barely do there own. After completing my degree, yes times are hard and eployment difficult to find. However, no one of the faculty stepped in to help me find one even after asking several times. When I couldn't find a position one year later, I applied for several positions at Montevallo, clerical, administrative, etc. Having a personal connection with one faculty memeber on campus, I had always liked to atmosphere and felt it would be a great place to work. Since all my appllications have fallen to deef ears, not even a call for an interview, I have changed my mind. In fact, now both my husband and I will be looking out of state for positions. Now, in addition to me not findind or haiving an opporutnity to be at Montevallo, there is a great possibility they will lose one of the best professors they have ever had. Most students enrolled in that department would greatly attest to that.
