I came to Tech through a series ofQuite BrightMusic - Performance
I came to Tech through a series of familial misfortunes to the point that it became the most affordable, realistic option. I had several other schools picked out, and had been admitted to IU Bloomington's music program. Tech simply became the only viable option. From the second I sat down in freshman orientation to my last day of finals freshman year, I have been nothing if not impressed with the school, particularly the faculty. I'm a music performance (double specialty-horn & piano)/pre-medical biology double major, and I have continually underestimated not only the patience and helpfulness of the faculty but, as far as the music department goes, talent. Some of the music staff have attended Juilliard, some come from overseas. I know of one who has played with the Rome Symphony Orchestra.

The things I haven't been as impressed with are the students. You should NOT come to this school if you have a problem with rednecks. There also seems to be a desperate lack of attractive girls. Just saying. Also, the dorm I stayed in was literally falling apart. We have keycards to access our dorms. Well, we didn't need them, as we didn't have external doors for a semester. They had all fallen off by the second week, and maintenance was painfully slow at getting them, or anything else, repaired. And all the pianos are always out of tune.

Though the Art Department was small and oldArt & Design Department
Though the Art Department was small and old when I attended I still felt the department was fairly strong. I had talented professors that were working and showing in galleries as they taught so their advice was current. I was able to go to them for advice and they did help. I still keep in touch with them about art shows and such.

Tech is a great school.Quite BrightBiology
Tech is a great school. It has a bad reputation for being filled with rednecks, but that isn't true. I am not a redneck and my roommate is from Japan so she is not a redneck. Obviously there a a few, but most students are not like that. Tech has some great academic programs and they grow every year. The students are friendly and overall the students love their choice of school. Most of the staff is always willing to work with you. The classes are the perfect size because it is easy to get to know your professors.

The campus is great. The library is one of the most technologically advanced in the state. The buildings for the most part are nice. Some of the dorms are kind of old but there are plenty of nice dorms too. I would reccomend Arkansas Tech to students looking for a nice school to go to. It isn't a big school, but it's not so small that everyone knows everyone. It is easy to get involved on campus too.
