| Bright | Though the Art Department was small and old when I attended I still felt the department was fairly strong. I had talented professors that were working and showing in galleries as they taught so their advice was current. I was able to go to them for advice and they did help. I still keep in touch with them about art shows and such. | Starting Job: Art Department Head of school District, Preparedness: A, Reputation: B+ | | |

Tech is a great school. It has a bad reputation for being filled with rednecks, but that isn't true. I am not a redneck and my roommate is from Japan so she is not a redneck. Obviously there a a few, but most students are not like that. Tech has some great academic programs and they grow every year. The students are friendly and overall the students love their choice of school. Most of the staff is always willing to work with you. The classes are the perfect size because it is easy to get to know your professors. The campus is great. The library is one of the most technologically advanced in the state. The buildings for the most part are nice. Some of the dorms are kind of old but there are plenty of nice dorms too. I would reccomend Arkansas Tech to students looking for a nice school to go to. It isn't a big school, but it's not so small that everyone knows everyone. It is easy to get involved on campus too. | Faculty Accessibility: A+, Surrounding City: C

| Quite Bright | ATU is a great school. The faculty and staff treat you as an individual. It is clear that you are not just a number or a person to get money more from. All of the professors are required to hold office hours and they are in their office during those times 99.9% of the time. They only time they're not there is if they're gone to a conference (which they normally tell you ahead of time that they won't be there) or if they went to the copier. The professors are very willing to answer questions for students. The main thing that sticks out in my mind about the school is the individualism. I am so happy that I chose this school. I've received and excellent education and enjoyed the entire experience. My advice for being successful in college is to work hard now so that you are prepared and work on time management. College is challenging, but there's more free time which can be used to your advantage if you manage your time. Don't go and expect it to be one big party. Balance your time between schoolwork and extracirciular activities. There's plenty of time for it all if you manager your time. Also, apply early for everything so that you have a better chance of getting your choices (housing, classes, etc.) ATU is a great place to go to school. | Faculty Accessibility: A+, Social Life: A- | | | |

I am currently a senior at Arkansas Tech, and have attended here since my freshman year. I personally believe that this is one of the finest institutions in the state, with much more to offer than other universities. The size is perfect. The classes are small and personal, yet the student body is large enough to ensure the availability of technology. I can honestly say that nearly every professor I have had has known me by name within the first couple of weeks, which helps when exam time rolls around. They still grade you objectively, but it is always helpful if they can place a face with a name. Mostly, the professors are always available to help, and the professors ACTUALLY TEACH the courses, not T.A.'s.
The campus is very nice, and most facilities are up-to-date and well-maintained. The library and student center are nice, as are several of the residence halls. The food isn't all bad, and the staff members are for the most part very helpful. Russellville is a typical small city. There are not tons of things to do, but unless you are interested in going out every night of the week, you should find plenty to do here. All you have to do is make a few good friends (which is easy in the small classes), and you will never be bored. Overall, Arkansas Tech is a great university. It has a reputation for being filled with red necks and good ol' boys, and while you will find some of these here (we are in Arkansas of course), this is certainly not the norm. I feel that I have received a first-class education here, and have made some great friends with other students and professors in my four years. Basically, I love Tech and would recommend it to anyone. | Friendliness: A+, Campus Maintenance: B-
