 | Bright | Hendrix has an outstanding academic program-I learned more in my one year there than in all my years elsewhere before. However, if you are not extremely liberal, you will be shut out, mostly by students, a little by staff and faculty. It seems as though most people there may have been rejected before because of their liberal standings and when they all found each other at Hendrix, they forgot what it was like to be on the other end and so are aggressively opposed to anything remotely traditional or conservative. | Education Quality: A+, Surrounding City: D+ | | | |

| | Quite Bright | I am very pleased with the academic program at this school. I kind of wish they didnt have so many core requirements, but thats what i get for going to a liberal arts college. plan on doing a double major, if you dont, you are going to have to fill about 20 of 32 classes with classes that dont fulfill major requirements. Although im not in one, i know the preprofessional programs are great. advisors/teachers are top notch. If drinking isnt your thing (most college students shouldnt have to worry about this), you might have trouble finding things to do at night.many students go on to graduate programs. before coming here, i wasnt even considering it, but now could not imagine not going to get a masters. the wellness/athletics center is great, but the hours (especially on the weekends) are not.i know that 24 hour access would provide many issues, but i think that would be great and provide people more ways to occupy their time. | Individual Value: A, Education Quality: F | | | |

| | Quite Bright | I transferred to Hendrix this year. The students are awesome and the professors I've had are also great. Especially Dr. Shutt in the History Dept., and Dr. Goldberg, who is new to the Anthropology dept. The administration can be frustrating. The only reason I'm transferring out is that, while I thought I wanted a small school, Hendrix is just TOO small. Socially it's fine. Academically, not so much. While the teachers are challenging, interesting, and great (for the most part anyways--keep in mind I haven't been here that long, but from what I hear the majority of the faculty are awesome), there just aren't enough classes offered that I'm interested in. Most classes are only offered during one time period in a semester, or maybe even only once every other year. This is fine to most students, but personally I need more options. I love Hendrix and recommend going there, but make sure you've read through the catalog and looked at what courses are actually offered that year and previous years. This is especially apparent in smaller departments like Sociology/Anthroplogy. Basically, just make sure the small school thing is what you want. I thought it was, but...not THIS small. It is really a personal preference though. | Useful Schoolwork: A+, Surrounding City: C | | | |
