I got an MLA in English and it prepared me to go on to a PhD at a very large university (Texas A&M) and I am doing quite well. I wish that there were a larger grad student community there and that graduate classes were not so often double listed with undergrad classes, but I those are limitations of a small university. I still believe that they expected much too much work out of graduate assistants--having so few in the department led to us being overworked and taken advantage of. I had a little problem getting involved. If you didn't know certain people, then you weren't gonna be included. I feel like I am not getting the social aspect in my college career.
