This is a very competitive Christian University that will prepare you for a job or grad school. I transferred in from another private univerity that was not preparing me and so was not really prepared for the high expectaions Harding had for me. Now even though it has been tough I feel like I am really prepared for medical school and I don't believe the other place would have prepared me. One thing that will really surprise you about this university is the great geographical diversity of the student body---they come from all over the nation. It seems like someone told me that only 25% of the students come from Arkansas. A lot come from Texas, Florida, California and Tennessee and the remainder of the states. A very large number of international students also come to Harding and everyone blends well together.

Harding is a very strict university and has many rules that does not enable you to be an adult. I transferred in from a state school wanting a Christian environment but what I got was, in reality, a lot of fake people who could be totally different than what they make themselves out to be. I was not pleased with the student life here BUT there are a few genuine students. You just have to find them.

The business department could be the best program at this school. They are very helpful and willing to work with you to understand concepts. The professors in the accounting department really do want you to succeed and take a personal interest in finding you a job after school. They have many "Meet the Firms" days where you can personally talk with different companies about their accounting positions. I think the only thing that this program is lacking is the AACSB accredidation and the only reason I would not go back to this school.

Final points on the accounting program:

Federal Tax I will definitely be the hardest class you have ever taken in your life - will prepare you for CPA

Prepare to learn a lot in Intermediate Acct II
Christian Business Ethics will blow your mind (most interesting class offered)
Campus Aesthetics: A+, Scholastic Success: F

Harding was a good school, all in all. However, you have to be willing to put up with crap. Yes, people are very biased. The problem is, they are everywhere. It is a Christian University. That being said, expect stereotypical Christian people. I am non-denominational, and was very frustrated with the Church of Christ my first year. After realizing my frustrations, and deciding to power through, I learned how to find classes I would enjoy, and which ones would be too conservative for my taste. There are other people who aren't Church of Christ at the school, and people who aren't Christian. It isn't hard to find, so people should just look harder if they want friends. I didn't join a social club, and still met plenty of nice people.
