Super Brilliant
Overall I kindof hate it here. I am stuck here because of a scholarship, but if I had ANY chance to leave, i would. For one, the offices here are terrible. Student accounts, registrar, financial aid; all of them filled with incompetent people. The dorms are mostly all terrible, with the exception of a few. The all girls dorm always has shady looking men outside it, the other day a guy tried to pick pocket me outside it, and one time my girlfriend got feeled up walking to her dorm at night. The "campus police" of course did nothing. The campus security at SAU is HORRIBLE. They don't do any of the things they say they will do; for example there is supposed to be cops driving around at night, not true. They are also supposed to check the doors to the dorms at night, they don't. They do absolutely nothing, I feel unsafe at night. Last year there was a rape on campus, some guy snuck into Bussey dorm (you can look it up on the news for more details.) The campus police of course did nothing. Overall, DO NOT COME HERE. Unless you want to be robbed, forcibly fondled, or have the terrible administrative offices screw up your education.

Not so bright
I am from Magnolia. I could see where one would like SAU. I did, at first. I had planned to attend a much larger university, but I visited SAU's preview day to get out of school one afternoon. The campus was pretty, the people were nice, and it LOOKED like there were a lot of things to do. WRONG. This is very much a back pack college. If you drive by on a Friday night the campus is virtually deserted. There are NO weekend parties. Now, I am not much of a party girl, but I did want to get somewhat of a real college experience. They have their "parties" smack in the middle of the week. Also, Magnolia is a dry county, and their parties are at a bar about 22 miles away. Academically it wasn't the best experience. I was an English major, and the department was not the most helpful. They do not even offer a creative writing major. My suggestion: If you do not major in agri or business I would go somewhere else. This school is full of a bunch of red necks who probably weren't all that impressive in high school and if they were, then they graduated with a class of 10.

Quite Bright
I have a degree from another school., but I am a non-degree student who came to SAU to pick up a couple of summer courses. The faculty here have been wonderful. The staff and administration, on the other hand have been a nightmare. I don't know how anyone could go to this school full time and deal with it. While there are exceptions, most of the staff are either completely rude, completely clueless, or both. Despite the fact that I've had great profs, I could not handle trying to get a degree here. The place is run by bitter robots.

Business office: Awesome. By some fluke, they seem to know what they are doing.
Financial aid: The people up front have no idea what is going on and can get you into serious financial trouble. Find someone who looks over 30.

Admissions: Predominantly incompetent
Advising: Rude and slow and inconvenienced by pesky studentsRegistrars office: Downright hostile
Faculty Accessibility: A+, Individual Value: F
