ASU is a great place to go to school.Quite BrightPolitical Science
ASU is a great place to go to school. First, you are in Downtown Tempe, which is a great place. There is so much to do, from clubs and bars, to great places to eat or relax. Phoenix is a wonderful and dynamic city as a whole - just stay out of Mesa. The school has great architecture (although some buildings, the Social Science Building, needs to be torn down and rebuilt).

The night life is great! You are never bored on a Saturday night. Students are friendly and fun, proffs are quite good as well. Some are a pain to get a hold of, others live for their students. It's not the most difficult coreswork, but still challenging.

This is a great school, esp. if you are from out of state. You can't beat the weather, the Phoenix area, the social life. And by the way, 110F isn't that bad! It sure beats the humidity of my home town.

Question
ASU is a place to go if youBrightPsychology
ASU is a place to go if you are looking for a good time...serious students need not apply. I came from a Catholic high school and the transition was not an easy one. You are known only by your social security number and nothing more. If you are an architecture or industrial design major, this is a great school. Otherwise the student body is made up of wealthy, spoiled kids who do not take their education seriously. The city is great and there is always something to do, other than actual school work that is. I had fun, but it just wasn't for me. If you prefer partying, tanning and shopping to actual studying as your college experience than this is the place for you!

Question
Being a transfer student from Oklahoma State University,BrightOther
Being a transfer student from Oklahoma State University, Arizona State Universtiy is by far a better school. Not only are the students socially active, you still find students who take thier education seriously. I think the reason why ASU has such a large number of drop outs is due to such a large student body populous; obviously the greater the population, the more extreme the statistics are going to be. As for the party life, pretty much any university you visit or attend is going to have that so called "college atmosphere." Really, it just depends on how much you participate and are you disciplined enough to show up to class the next day and follow through with your studies. One of the main reasons why I transferred is to be closer to home and friends. I am originally from Orange County, CA, and ASU was the closest school that offered my intended major. On top of that, many of the students that attend ASU are from So.Cal. and share the same social interests as myself. As far as U of A goes, that school and its surroundings reminded me too much of Stillwater, OK. (hometown of O.S.U.) and therefor my justification is somewhat biased and ignorant. If you are high school senior checking out your collegiate opportunities, I would highly recommend ASU for its overall academic and social atmospheres.
