Taliesin is an amazing program for the motivated self-learner. It's based on an alternative educational philosophy that makes it quite challenging for those who've been raised in a traditional system, but all the more rewarding for those who desire to have a hand in their own education. Don't expect to be force-fed anything, including any dogmatic 'Wrightian' ideas. The school is both empowered and tethered by it's connection to Frank Lloyd Wright, but is not directed at a nostalgic interpretation of times past. If you're thrilled with Wright's work, and also critical... if you know what you want to learn and from whom... if you desire to live and work towards something different than the societal norm... this program might be for you. It isn't for everyone, but contact and visit if you're interested to see if you connect with the spaces, places, ideas and people that make up this incredible community.

To be honest, the school is a bit of a joke. There's some good potential if you have your own agenda, but don't expect to receive an education from this place. It's more like an overpriced artist commune. Not to mention the place is a mess. The school buildings are in disrepair and falling to decay. There's rats everywhere in the AZ campus and mice/bats in the WI campus. I found it pretty disgusting. You have to cover your drawings to keep bats from sh*tting on them. It's shameful that FLLW's building are being treated so poorly.

It's all there, but it's up to the individual to get it. The program allows students to study whatever they want within a certain criteria. It teaches you that everything you do is a learning experience and how to take full advantage of everything you do in your life.
