The advising at NAU is horrible for majors in Social & Behavioral Sciences. The staff in this Advising department do a terrible job, lose paperwork, don't have any clear method, and are not held accountable. They have been a joke for many years and NAU's administration has yet to step up and take control. If you have another major you're probably fine...but everyone in SBS struggles to get a reasonable advisor.

This school is not what i expected. It is really a nice campus but the students are awful. They are mean snotty and arrogant. They are not friendly or approachable. The teachers and advisors are not helpful at all. The school overcharges for EVERYTHING. There is always construction going on that inhibits ways to get to class. It is NOT very diverse here at all. Most people are from Phoenix or other parts of the surrounding desert towns. There is nothing to do in the town and it gets really boring easily. Teachers are really self-absorbed and do not give good lectures and have no ideas how to run their classrooms. I have spent two years here but cant wait to get out of here.

The School itself is very nice. The landscape is beautiful and the weather was fantastic. All of the professors I had were very helpful and more than willing to provide extra tutoring. Overall, the actual schooling at Northern Arizona University is great. However, I only attended this school in the Spring, and I will not go back, ever. I lived in a dorm this semester and hated it. The people in my dorm acted stuck up and very unfriendly. The students in my classes weren't much different either, save for a few people. Good luck making friends if you don't already know at least 2 people who attend. People can act very stand offish here, like theyre in a high school clique, and the only friendly encounters I had were outside of the school. So overall this school is excellent when it comes to the education and atmosphere. The Social life sucks though. I'm transferring to ASU for the fall, as much as I hate that school, it's better than NAU when it comes to friendly people.
