Word of advice. Do not attend this college if you think you will learn something. I took my classes here because I have been working in the IT field for well over 20 years, with my first computer a TRS-80. I knew a two-year degree was too fast, but because I knew all the subject matter in great detail, I found the classes more annoying than challenging. But it surprised me to no end how some students would simply paste a WIKIPedia article as their assignment - and yet still be around weeks later as part of my "group project" - GROAN! How the heck? I would think they would have either been so far behind or removed from the class. My favorite was an IM from a fellow student asking me about the Visual Studio assignment (which was to simply demonstrate you actually installed the program) - this was the second class in programming which required the use of Visual Studio - yet this student said, "...and I'm not sure what Visual Studio is? Can I find it online? Where did you get your scripts from?"

Bottom line... Yes, it's all about the money, and even though I know my degree isn't as valuable as a Brick and Mortar degree, I was able to complete it in half the time. Yes more expensive and not as valuable, but it still got me that "..he's got a bachelor's" check mark which got me in the door and allowed me to sell my REAL skills. Which is my point. Don't use this degree as your "selling point" to an employer. This degree may get you in the door, but the classes teach you nothing in the way of real skills. Some may not care about this and simply get a job with this degree in areas they clearly are not qualified to work, but that's on them.

Super Brilliant
My college experiences at AIU were very positive with the faculty. The professors in the IT department are the best. They are helpful and approachable. There was only one professor who did not know what he was doing and that was a Financial Analysis class. I think he should go back to school and learn how to teach the concepts.

During the two years I attended AIU, the only problems that I confronted were with the Financial Aid department. They seemed to care but did not follow through on their end and need to be coached by the students. It took me about 7 months for them to finally clear up my account and have my papers in order. This was after 7 months of following them around. So, if you are thinking of attending AIU do so, but please keep you attention focused on the Financial Aid department, because you may have problems graduating if you don't follow up and make sure you get clearance after every quarter.

Other wise go for it!!! It was fun, student life is what you make of it. After all, it is a small school, each person makes a good network of friends.

And if you are interested in getting a great education for very good professors who do care then go to AIU.

The faculty of the IT department are the best.

Plain and simple, do not go here! Online schools are a joke, prospective students are just numbers to the advisors who try and sign them up. Sure the school may sound good, but dont put your trust in someone who needs to meet their number for the month. Choose a school based on what YOU research.

I have attended two online Universities. First, University of Phoenix and then AIU. American InterContinental University is a very good program. Not only did I have an opportunity for asynchronous classes at my own schedule, but class lectures were given synchronously with live class discussion boards. Can't make it? No problem. They were recorded and you can download when convenient. Online universities are much tougher than traditional colleges. There is more reading and writing that is needed to be done and you don't have access to the instructor on a daily basis via face to face to feed you the answers. It definitely incorporates Bloom's Taxonomy Teaching Model which means you have to work hard! Know that up front and you will be mentally prepared. I am glad for that otherwise my degree would have no value in the market which many students do not understand when they compare to other University's traditional or e-Learning programs who simply hands out an A as long as you pay for the course. I never experienced any negative tactics in marketing or admissions. Did they ask if I wanted to do additional minors, etc. Yes, but I declined and that was the end. Any online program is expensive because you are paying for the convenience and the technology. I have recommended this University to many professionals who have all had positive experiences as well and many have been promoted or received increases and other incentives upon completion. In my opinion, this is a very good University.
