I escaped the lion by the skin of my teeth. Ok Ok I heard all the talk about their accreditation but since it was reccommended by my State Scholarship Program, I figured I would give it a shot. Luckily I did not end my research on their reccommendation. Coming in with 45 credits from a University system, they would only allow 30. Upon finding that their credits would not transfer easily, I requested to be withdrawn but continued to get emails about my financial aid package being approved. I continued to respond that I would not accept nor be responsible or any fees inccurred by processing such Aid. I finally contacted the lender and requested that they not make any funds avail to them. One other thing I noticed about the financial aid is that they take the FULL cost of the course out of the first award, leaving a balance owed. Leaving any refund to be paid to you on the next financial aid year if there is any. WTH?

Diploma mill - YES. About nothing but your dollars.

The staff are very friendly and encouraging during the admission process but once they get your money you are useless to them. If you want your degree you are locked in and the attitude is...take it or leave it...we have your money. Educators are great its the Academics Staff, The Accounting Staff, The Student Support Staff and the Financial Aid Staff that have no regard for the students.. The classes are fine and you will enjoy them however if you have problems you will get NO help. You are forced to take 2 classes per session. When I told the Student Support person I need to go to on class I was told that I had to "APPLY" for that privelage. By that time the school was already billing me for both classes and when I told them I needed to drop a class they told me that if I drop the class they will remove me from the University. At this point I had a 4.0 average but because I could not maintain 2 classes I dropped to a 3.8 average. When the next session started and no one contacted me about the "privelage" of taking only one class I called acadmics. The person I spoke with told me I had NO OPTIONS. I told him I was a customer and he told me that this was a UNIVERISTY not ONLINE Shopping. Working in the business world a customer is not someone that gives you money neccesarily but your stakeholder. He blew me off. When I spoke to the student advisor they told me that my only option was to not participate in the one of the 2 classes but I would still have to pay for the second class. When I didn't participate they gave me an "F" and I went down to a 3.41 average. The school administrative staff does not care about the student once they get your money. They will not help you and seem to encourage failure to increase your financial debt to the school. This is a VERY POOR EXCUSE for a University. Please consider other options. When I get my AA (in 3 months) I intend to switch to a more reputable online school.

If you are selecting a online school there are better choices, AIU recruiters are just like the military recruiters the tell you what you want to hear to get you in the door!

If I had this to do all over again, I would NOT have attended AIU. The quality of education, professors, and social life is poor. The professors and studend advisors I've dealt with so far were disrespectful and didn't care about the student's education. I have yet to have a good experience with this school.
