They dont like people with new ideas or challenging faith. I live off campus, 30 miles away, with my fiance due to financial reasons. APU seems to think that this is their business. when APU found out, they gave me 30 days to get married, or move out. they made cohabiting against policy the weekend before they met with us. they make up rules as they go along. I cant afford a wedding, and I want something nicer then getting married in a court for my college's satisfaction. I guess they would really rather me be homeless. Everyone is judgmental. Girls preach about being sexually pure, then scramble to find the morning after pill after a one night stand. a teacher entered my grade in wrong, and refused to fix it because she threw out all of the homework that was handed in so she has no proof. I emailed the president to discuss these real issues and his response was that he is too busy. Chapel is an absolute drag. it is boring, long and required 3X per week. they tell you that you can petition to be excused from chapel, but no one is approved. Then you are hit with a $200 fine when you miss too many chapels. I am transferring asap to a school that sees loving one another as a priority. Where to begin... First Ill start with the living arragements. I am a commuter so I might as well not even exist at this institution. They have a "department" for communters but it consisits of handing out snacks to make up for the social isolation that takes place at this school. You only have a social life if you live on campus. In the science department its also interesting. The faculty are alright, besides the fact that almost every class has only one teacher, making learning style choices nonexistant. The high price tag at this school is not for the education, its for the activities that the school puts on that are a waste of time at an instituion of "learning." If I wanted to go to church, I would go on my own time, not pay $35,000 dollars a year. The students are a mixed bunch, some are really friendly, others not so much. Most I have encountered have been closed minded and spoiled/sixth year seniors who ride it out on their parents dime to get a degree in "global studies"? They are very invested in promoting the school and invite many investors to come and pour more money into the school. Don't get me wrong though, APU is still a great institution...if your a pastors kid. The only way to get recognition is if you achieve one of the coveted positions on campus like chapel leader or RA.Overall I feel left out and that my money is being spent on services that are not required for me to get an academic education. I didnt think college would be just like high school but this place was so much worse with so much drama. Also, the teachers were unintelligent and unhelpful. My roommate also started hooking up with other girls on the floor showing to either be a lesbian or bi. however she would. judge me for having a boyfriend. The place was a frecking twilight zone with unintelligent educators trying to educate students. Therefore resulting in a contuning cycle of college graduates not ready to face the real world.
