Not so bright
I went to ARC a few years back, then I transferred to a 4 year old college. After attending 2 different schools since then, I realized I received an amazing education from ARC, the teachers are amazing. Some of them harder then others but they all seem to really care about his/her students. I personally would love to go back but Im stuck on the other side of the US now after transferring. The only negatives about the school in my opinion are that they need to put more money into the sports programs such as football and softball, because they have an amazing athletic program and a great training center if an athlete gets hurt. Plus they have a major parking issue, they need to rethink the parking lots and add in a parking garage of some sort. All in all, ARC was the best choice for me. I made some amazing friends, played a sport that allowed me to get part of my college paid for, and I received a better education then I did at my 4-year top rated college I went to.

AR is a great place to start your degree. It is strictly a commuter community college - I don't think I made one friend in a class my whole 2 years there. But then again, I didn't try. It is what you make it

Great school, smart professor. You can get lost in the course work if you're unprepared. It's diffrent from other community college because the professors here are good counsel but they're not babysitters like other campus.

First, I think I should explain the concept of a community college. This is a school usually for older working adults, who might have missed the first bus of opportunity to go to college or maybe they just don't have mum and pop paying for them and decided to do the smart thing and save THOUSANDS of dollars by doing their GE here. This isn't a party school, social school or like omg, frats and sororities everywhere. Now, I do attend night classes which attract a more mature population than the 18 year old straight out of high school - so it's probably a different experience.

This is an excellent college to be used as a stepping stone for the next level, whatever it may be. You need to be PROACTIVE in getting things done here - you need to talk to a counselor, do your research and double check everything.

Also, instructors care about you passing or failing but are NOT going to hold your hand and bend over backwards for you. This is a college, and you actually have to do work and study. It's a very simple formula actually - study, do homework, study, take test. In the "real" world, your boss does not care that you were up until 1:00 am taking care of your sick kid - that project needs to get DONE and your butt is on the line if it isn't. That's how college should be done, there are no excuses!

Some teachers are better than others, be wary and try to get referrals or check ratemyprofessor.com.

The campus is nice and quiet (at night at least), and the hours for the various departments are accommodating to us working folks. There is also a new program called ACE just for working adults, very nice.

So basically, this college is what it is - a community college and most people are working their butts off every single day to get their work/life/school/kids taken care of - give 'em some slack.

But the cell phones during class HAVE to stop unless you are a darn CEO or doctor and need to be on call. Annoying :P
