It's close to home and cheap and it's quality education. Barstow is a really small town and there's nothing to do here...not a lot of opportunities. That's sad and all, but BCC does its best. There are a few clubs on campus and some arty events...plays, musicals, concerts, student art shows, etc. There's Basketball and Baseball. However, I have found the majority of the teachers to be really great. Yes, there are some that really suck but you'll find that anywhere. Some of my friends have nightmare stories to tell about some of their professors at major universities! What I do appreciate is that because it's so small, I never feel like a number. My teachers have been real helpful and know me by name. And because it's so small, I can talk to a lot of other students so I know what teachers to take and which ones NOT to. It is also a good jumping point to a university. The college is small and therefore offers a higher level of service that is almost on the personal level. The staff are willing to help and are friendly. The campus is well maintained and is safe at night with ample lighting and security patrol for the late classes. The surrounding city offers little in night life, yet, only 30 miles down the road Victorville offers more and only 40 miles beyond that is the Los Angeles area. If you are looking for an enexpensive way to get going in your education it is a good choice. Individual Value: A+, Useful Schoolwork: F Have a Question? I got here when i was 16 because of graduating a couple years early. This school isnt as small as it seems(its just because we have such a large online class base, with students from all around the country). I must agree, the surrounding town does suck! But i live here and when you've lived here for so long...well u learn to love it. Everybody i friendly. Nobodys snooty because its not a rich town. People can relate to each other, and that makes it easy to make friends. Plus $20 per credit hour isnt too bad! ;) Friendliness: A+, Surrounding City: C Have a Question?
