Brooks Institute is accredited and is WASC eligible.

Please see their website for this information:
STATEMENT OF ACCREDITATION

Brooks Institute is an accredited member of the Accrediting Council for Independent

Colleges and Schools (ACICS). ACICS is an accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education and is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). You may visit the ACICS website at www.acics.org for more information.

At this time, Brooks Institute is seeking to obtain regional accreditation with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Below is the approved statement we are allowed to post in publication and on our website (www.brooks.edu):

"Brooks Institute has applied for Eligibility from the Senior College Commission of

the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. WASC has reviewed the

application and determined that Brooks Institute is eligible to proceed with an

application for Candidacy for Accreditation. A determination of Eligibility is not a

formal status with the Accrediting Commission, nor does it assure eventual

accreditation; it is a preliminary finding that the institution is potentially

accreditable and can proceed within three years of its Eligibility determination to be

reviewed for Candidacy status with the Accrediting Commission."

I am a graduate of Brooks and found it to be life changing for me to attend such a prestigious school. It was extremely technical and the reason for this is because they want you to be able to repeat your work or art. If I would not have gone to such a challenging school, I do not feel my high standards or successes would be as great as they are today. Upon my graduation I moved to San Francisco and trained under every professional photographer I could find for another 4 years. This was training I felt I needed above and beyond my Brooks degree. I also drove to LA for internships while being a student that gave me terrific connections as an assistant upon my graduation. I am now a successful photographer and cinematographer in the Midwest. I feel I was given the proper tools and trained by the best in the business at Brooks Institute. They prepared me for what to expect in the real world and showed me they cared while doing it.

Before attending Brooks I worked as a graphic artist who had a little experience making movies. I knew what I wanted as a career and found that Brooks could give me the tools to broaden my horizons and help me pursue a career as an editor. Brooks is extremely challenging, but if you love doing it, it is rewarding. There are awesome sets, industry standard equipment (from lighting to cameras), faculty that is knowledgeable and experienced, and tons of students that share the love of being creative. Everything is there for you, but you have to be the one to use every opportunity to make it happen.
