I wish I knew who to go toJun 15 2014Education
I wish I knew who to go to file a legal complaint. This school is in it for the money. My scholarships also disappeared, and my tuition was more than originally quoted. The quality of education here was worse than any I have ever received, which is unfortunate in a teaching program. One of my professors was fired the semester after I had her, during which three classes were canceled, and the administrator had to facilitate a class restructuring. They preach that they do not believe in the sink or swim model, but that is exactly what happened to me. I was placed in a class to take over from day one with zero resources or assistance. There are so many different "bosses" who all have different, conflicting requirements. The stress was unbelievable. This school is incredibly unorganized. I should have realized it on the first day when all my classroom assignments posted online were wrong...or on day one of the methods block when they assigned me to the a different cohort than I registered for causing me to have to quit my job for the schedule difference...or during the full time placement when they failed to place any of us in classrooms that met the requirements for our TPAs(required by the state). I realize it now, when over a month after school is out I still do not have grades posted so that I can get a transcript, and the school has still not submitted my recommendation for a credential. I was luck enough to find a job, but now that is at risk because CLU cannot function like an accountable university should. I am only three classes from my masters, but I'd gladly start over at another school than deal with CLU for anything else. STAY AWAY!
Question
I chose a small school for my graduateJun 10 2013Public Policy
I chose a small school for my graduate studies to have a more personable experience within my program and that is exactly what I am getting. CLU has that small school feel and yet offers a lot to its students. I had the chance to go to Cal Poly for the MPP program but decided ultimately on CLU for the MPPA program. The faculty are dedicated and want to see you to be successful within the program and be able to apply what you learn outsided the classroom. You are not bogged down in a bunch of theoretical knowledge that you wont know what to do with once you earn your degree. I have been very content and happy with CLU and the MPPA program. Too many times people attend a school for the name rather than looking at other institutions (that may not be as reputable) that could yield more opportunities to you if you are a motivated student. I have been given ample opporutnities throught CLU as a graduate student that I would not receieve at a larger institution like a Cal Poly. To name a few I have been chosen for two different graduate assistantships, appointed to the graduate student council, and all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA.
Question
As an international student, I am bitterly andJun 14 2012Business - Management and Administration
As an international student, I am bitterly and costly disappointed by studying at CLU. If you just wanna get an easy MBA degree this school would be allright for you. All students can easily get 4 out 4 in this school.

However, the question is do you really learn something during this process from CLU? It definetely doesn't worth for it.

no discussion between students. no communication. and probably nobody heard the word of "brainstorming" at clu's classrooms before. it is more like undergrad. prof. writes something on the board, and everybody copies them. Don't expect to discuss or talk over an issue with your classmates, they have nothing to share about their work experience, most of them 22-23 and they can't even talk english properly. The school doesn't even require an english proficiency exam. they just consider the students as $$$ mark.

if you had a good education at your undergrad place, don't waste your time and money at this school. they will just teach you how to memorize staff which most of us doesn't want.TO is a pretty dull area for students. If you come from large cities you will be bored for sure. However, if you like eating there are thousands of restaurants you can't even find in LA area. btw, don't even think to go to la everyday. you will be exhausted by commuting

Question
100% Partiality, No support on anything from facultyJun 08 2012Computer Science
100% Partiality, No support on anything from faculty on anything. No point of asking any suggestion from them. Aint getting anything useful back. Pay money buy degree - CLU - MSCS

Disappointment, yes this is the word for California Lutheran University's "Masters of Science in Computer Science" MSCS program.

Being an international student, I have started believing that I did not make a good choice by selecting this school for pursuing MSCS program. I can say, MSCS - CLU is just a business where you will pay ("waste") about $40,000 and buy a masters degree.

Apart from 1 professor, all others does not deserve to teach in this institute. Let tell you what a professor has to do in order to build a successful student.

1. Obviously educate a student is a basic principle of being a teacher. Ok, out of 10, Faculty of MSCS @ CLU deserves 5 points. Yes, 5 out of 10. Pretty close to be between poor and good. But few professors deserves 10 on 10 (best) while most of the professors deserves 1 on 10 (extremely poor).

2. Confidence and support student's ideas. Most of the professors does give confidence for a while but it takes a moment to just smash all your confidence into pieces.

Question
The MBA program does not require a GMATMar 03 2012Business - Management and Administration
The MBA program does not require a GMAT for acceptance. This should have been enough to make me think twice as most schools require this and use it to weed out students that are not intelligent enough to complete a graduate degree. Most students my first two classes barely spoke English. I felt very unchallenged and like I was the smartest person in the class. What a waste of time and money. This MBA degree will not have the prestige necessary to get a good job when I graduate.
Question
I am an International student here doing MSMar 01 2012Computer Science
I am an International student here doing MS in computer Science and up to now I have no good experience about any thing, studies, faculty's support, Classes, Knowledge , assistance from department.

Nothing makes it clear whether CLU is school for education or business to get rich customers. Specially the department of computer science **** when it comes to teaching.. Just do .ppts, assignments on our own and submit to get almost 4 GPA. Nothing counts while mid term or homeworks or projects. Everybody gets A- or A. I was expecting good practical knowledge, so called "American Education System", but now I am really regretting on my decision to join this school.

Fees are also very very very high which is worthless. Worst thing is when I came to know that 95% of International Student joined this institute through consultancy/Agencies in their country and many of them got admission with "Graduate assistant ship" and hence there would be no more financial aid for any graduate student in CLU until those students graduate. I was looking for any kind of financial aid from school but every time I got the same answer starting with "Unfortunately" and there is no job for graduate students on-campus. I came with the expectation of getting some good working environment as well as an earning source which could help me in paying my personal expenses but California Lutheran University ruined everything and now I am feeling like I am stuck here. This is ridiculous and this university does not care what so ever problem faced by any international students. I would never recommend anyone to come here in this school, at least not for the master's in Computer Science program. God bless us all.

Question
Cal Lutheran is a wonderful school for undergraduateSep 08 2011Business - Management and Administration
Cal Lutheran is a wonderful school for undergraduate and graduate study. It has the nicest dorms I have ever seen, and the campus is like a scenic park, and it has very high academic standards. There are nice new buildings everywhere, and the fitness center is like a nice health club. The lack of parties and it being located in an quiet, affluent, suburban area creates a serious academic atmosphere that allows students to excel in their studies. Worth the private school tuition.
Question
This is the most unorganized school I haveJan 21 2011Psychology
This is the most unorganized school I have ever heard of. The departments are not in contact with one another and they can never seem to keep track of paperwork. Class registration is not when they say it is suppose to be, rooms get booked for 2 classes for the same time, fees are never accurately posted, the bookstore does not know how to order the correct books for classes, or looses the teacher's book orders, and student housing gives out keys to occupied rooms. The only thing I'm pleased with is the fact that the degree is WASC accredited, but this place is ridiculous!

Question
The University and its Educational Program is extremelyOct 27 2009Education
The University and its Educational Program is extremely poor. The professors at the methods level are always passing on the buck. They know little. They make their students' look bad by promising information that will not be supplied. If you can look past the lack of information they provide to you, and go out of your way to be friendly to some unfriendly students, you will be able to complete the program. If you are independent, and do not like the cliques of college, having one of these people mentor you might not feel right

California Lutheran University is the best, I highlyMar 25 2004Business - Management and Administration
California Lutheran University is the best, I highly recommend going there. I'm in my first year of Grad school and enjoying every minute. The professors are always willing to help every student get the most out of their class instruction, their thinking is, you pay for it, we're here to make sure you get your money's worth. The instuctors I have now do a great job to make the course fun and informative, however, you will be doing alot of studying. The administration staff are very helpful and polite. If you want to attend a Beautiful University, with a caring facility, surrounded by green hills, in a safe area, you should consider California Lutheran University.
