| Quite Bright | I had a pretty good experience at De Anza. I transferred there after having a pretty negative experience at a UC school. I only ever had one teacher at De Anza who really didn't deserve to be a teacher, the rest of them were all well qualified, and easily approachable. I found the best teachers using Rate My Professors, it really helped me avoid overly difficult classes and horrible teachers. The campus is nice for a community college. They just got finish remodeling the campus center and have a brand new food court and indoor seating area. Since De Anza is a community college there isn't a whole lot of interraction with other students, as everybody is busy with their life outside of school, and the people you get to know in your classes you tend to never see again. The maturity level of my classmates was always really good, definitely a step up from high school despite what people say about community college being just like high school. Most of the unmotivated students tend to drop within the first couple of weeks. Parking can be really difficult, but I was always able to find parking in the Flint Center parking garage when worse came to worse. My one complaint about the school was the counselors tended not to know what they were talking about-I could talk to three different counselors, ask the same questions, and get completley different answers. Overall...good community college, one of the highest ranked in the state, prepared me for a CSU and UC education, and saved me a lot of money. If you aren't quite ready to move away from home, or if you are worried about your finances, community college is the way to go-it is completley different from high school-much much better. | Preparedness: B, Reputation: A | | |

| Not so bright |
De Anza has amazing and often over qualified teachers. I believe the teachers have a huge impact on a student's college experience. Although this is only a junior college, I have received the best training, and when compared to 4-year universities, the quality of education and training is sometimes equal to, but often better at De Anza College. I have heard from many sources that this school is rated the best community college in the entire nation.
Another aspect which I highly appreciate is the amount of diversity on campus. I love it!And, it's a beautiful campus with lots of trees and an amazing enviromental department!!!!! However, there is one thing that I deem highly negative! That is the counseling and admissions department. I have no idea what credentials the counselors need to be hired, but from their performance, I would assume they barely received their GED. IT is really that bad! Most students leave the counseling department more confused and frustrated then when they entered. Counselors are preoccupied, extremely rude and completely ignorant to all aspects of their job. Every time I went in with a question the response was ALWAYS “I don’t know.†I truly believe a trained monkey would do a better job then the counselors at De Anza College, and they would be a lot nicer too! Also, the PE department….well I think you should just take a look at the recent rape of a 16 year old girl at the hands of the baseball team to get an idea what kind of barbarians occupy the testosterone reeking PE area. | Education Quality: A+, Individual Value: F | | | |

| Quite Bright | De Anza is a great community college. It has a great reputation and for good reason. The schools'clubs are decent, classes are challenging, teachers are well qualified (most of them), campus is beautiful. I truely believe that the college better your chance to transfer into an UC, or even a private university (Santa Clara University). I am currently in my second year at De Anza Collge and enjoys every second. Admitting to De Anza was one of the best things I ever did. | Campus Aesthetics: A+, Social Life: C+ | | | |

| Super Brilliant | De Anza's faculty have helped me to grow both as an individual and as a scholar. There are clubs and student organizations on campus for everyone to feel welcome and get involved in activities. The GE requirements are thorough, but work to better groom many of us for the real world. De Anza is also one of the best colleges in the area for getting prepared to transfer to either UC or CSU schools. | Extracurricular Activities: A+, Campus Maintenance: B- | | | |
