FIDM definetly prepared me in building my character, my workmanship and my overall talents. I came to FIDM with aspirations which stemed from the talent I had and passion I had for visual design and event planning. I knew that art and design would always be a part of my life and FIDM helped me be able to keep that in my life and work in fields that include that type of work.FIDM also helped drive me to be more assertive in reaching for all my dreams. They helped me find my first internship while in school which turned to my first full time job! They connected me to my first interviews directly after college which ended in all 3 companies really wanting to hire me because I came across as VERY WELL prepared for those positions in Visual styling, Trend Forecasting and Marketing. In the end, I chose Marketing & Promotions because it encompassed Public Relations, which I enjoyed, and Event Planning. To this day I get to help plan large scale events, deal with RSVP systems, contact people in the fashion industry. I thoroughly enjoy and love my job! I do recommend that high school students who do want to go to FIDM know that they will need to work hard as a student and be proactive in connecting with the Advisors there who have the connections to the industry for interships and job opportunities after graduating. The great thing about FIDM is that those connections are always available for students and graduates of the school so take advantage of that! Also, don't assume that the projects are easy and do give your 110% on them. If you ever need anything or have concerns definetly talk to your advisors about it.They were a huge help for me and explaining to me my loans etc. Financial wise, FIDM is a school worth investing in and you would have paid that amount at any other school! Do your research and take a look at the website, go to the Open Houses like I did, talk to the graduates at the events and you will see that FIDM is awesome choice and I still keep in touch with them today!

Good: The campus is like super gorgeous in L.A! I love the park and the Costume Museum they have on site so that I can be inspired by them. There is also a great Fashion District nearby that has fabrics and craft stuff for my projects. I love that I can find anything I need there and it is only walking distance or a short bus ride to get there! Transportation is everywhere! Buses, the metro, the freeways nearby can take me to Hollywood, Melrose if I wanted to take a quick shopping trip. Awesome coursework and small classes let me be able to talk to my teachers one on one in case I have questions. I love being challenged to think outside the box and make something even better than the student who came before me.:)The Career Center is totally awesome! My advisor is always available to connect me with internships and jobs to help me pay for school. I love using what I learn everyday in my work outside school and my current employeer really likes my professionalism with all my work! FIDM prepares you to be a professional in whatever it is you are studying.BUT, you really have to work hard be proactive to ask questions and talk to your Career Advisor and make sure your work is excellent to get a lot of the jobs. :)

What I liked about the school: The environment of the campus has a gorgeous park, awesome galleries and places to shop nearby. The class sizes are small enough where I know I will be heard! The library has so many subjects to study and get inspired by including an awesome media room where you can watch box office movies, independent films & fashion runway shows from all over the world! The instructors are seriously some of the most informative people in the industry and in my program each one of them had a great personality. Very artsy, intelligent and smart people! :) I LOVE the Career Center, my advisor is the coolest because she is always available to talk with me about how I can improve my work and my resume for interviews so that I can get internships. She has connected me with so many people this year alone who are looking for FIDM students to help them on major events and visual merchandising for major companies. I DEFINETLY recommend all students to visit the Career Center, network with your teachers and your peers for jobs. Connect with people at the school for help on your homework if you need it. Be ready for hard work because it is not a walk in the park. You have to be ready for that anyways when you go to college! If you are creative and want to be sucessful and make a business out of what you love or work for a high profile company in the fashion and entertainment industry, FIDM is for you!
