Quite Bright
The educational quality of Harvey Mudd is evident when you come back home to your friends that went to other colleges. Even compared to students who went to some of the top-rated colleges/universities in the States, I feel extremely sharp and confident in my abilities. In addition, I feel that I am able to pick up non-related subjects quicker than I could before. Whether it be music, writing, or solving every-day problems, I feel much sharper than ever before. For some reason, things are just easier now.

:)

In addition, I got two amazing internship opportunities after my first year.

Not so bright
I (white male) was simply the best at math/science/engineering at my high school...of 3000 students. I tutored the students that would tutor other students in math and science. In addition, I was section leader in several award-winning music groups in high school...totally 20+ years of music credits.

Mudd was my first choice. HMC>MIT>CalTech. I felt that Mudd encompassed who I was more than the other colleges. I wanted a good challenge...and I got it. Going from the top to the bottom is not easy on the human psyche.

I sit here, in my dorm room, thinking about my experiency here thus far. This place is crazy. It seems that 20-30% of these students are not too bright. The rest, however, are absolutely brilliant. The work load here is enormous.

If you want a real @ss kicking, go to Mudd. You receive a superior technical education (learning to solve problems) and great background in the humanities and social sciences- how exactly does your work tie into society at large? CalTech students talk shit about HMC but they have no clue how difficult it really is. That's why I gave CalTech the finger.

A lot of people will tell you they've never been as miserable as they are now that they attend this college; but the experience is what you make of it. I wanted to go here since I visited, and now I do attend. Once you get over the fact that your perfect high school GPA is now a 2.8 you'll feel a lot better. If you are too prideful to ask for help, do not come here. I tutored in high school, now I'm not afraid to ask for help, constantly.

Harvey Mudd teaches you to solve problems.
Not a specific narrow problem like "design an active filter".
The education is technically broad enoug to give you a good
overview of the wider problem you/your employer is trying to solve. Many engineers don't get that and it has been very valuable.
