Quite Bright
I pretty much had a choice between Irvine Valley College and Saddleback because I live in between the two. I now highly regret not taking SAT's and going straight to a Cal State or a UC. Yes, it's cheaper this way but IVC feels like high school all over again. Parking sucks for the first couple of weeks. There is a little to no social life here. This is a community college in a city where there really is nothing to do. The only parties I ever go to are ones thrown by high school friends. There are no college parties. People come to class to learn. They don't talk to anyone. They sit down, listen to the lecture, and go home. It's nearly impossible to meet a friendly face here. And if you somehow start up a conversation with anyone, it usually doesn't leave the campus. Enough about the social life. It sucks. The professors here are really hit and miss. You have the professors you can't understand at all, the ones who just shouldn't have a degree in teaching, and the life changing ones. I'm a psych major and all the psych professors I've had so far have been amazing. My current professor loves teaching what she does. She loves helping individuals. And she would be more than happy to sit you down and give you the lecture in different words. Some of the math and writing teachers (and other general ed classes) are terrible, and the guidance counselors are barely helpful. They give you a lot of information when you see them, but you need to schedule an appointment 2-3 weeks ahead of time, if you can even get one. Also, your 30 minute appointment usually turns into 15 minutes. It seems like this college offers the efficient knowledge to move onto another university, just don't come here if you don't have a social life already.
