I love SBCC! The school is gorgeous; right next to the beach with beautiful flowers and tress surrounding the area. I had an excellent experience here.

Good: The academics are challenging, but not too terribly difficult. If you apply yourself and not be afraid to ask questions, you will do well. Like I said, the school is build on a cliff by the sea, so it is a short walk from campus to the beach. The weather is pretty much always enjoyable, never too hot, never too cold. I've taken naps on the beach between classes. It's near downtown, so plenty of things to do and see. The people are very good looking and stylish. With all their flaws, you can meet some amazing people here. Especially international students! There is a TON of diversity here.

Bad: Because of SBCC's laid back atmosphere, warm weather, and beaches, it can be distracting; hard to concentrate. Some students (like me) on some days will just cut class to surf, skate, or just chill at the beach. Even when the students/people are really attractive and typical laid-back so cal, the people can be friendly, but still don't give a damn. There's a lot of students, so expect quickly filled up classes and parking. Both are difficult to get into if you aren't early.

I'm not sure how it is now, because of CA's budget cuts and bad economy. A lot of CA students are transferring out-of-state. As I continued into SBCC, there seemed to be less and less students every semester.

I'm currently attending an out-of-state University and plan to go back to SBCC to finish my general education to transfer to a UC or CSU. It's just that amazing!

I moved to SBCC from Florida and I have never regretted it. The campus is absolutely amazing and the teachers are very personable and professional. The campus sits on a cliff overlooking the ocean and channel islands, which can be a bit distracting but just gorgeous. The people are a bit snooty, I have found it hard to meet real, genuine people that arent self absorbed and snobby. I am a second year student and I am not looking forward to transferring because I have loved SBCC so much.

Super Brilliant
I was accepted at UC Berkeley and a number of Ivy League schools, and chose to go to SBCC because I felt the education was just as good and more affordable, not to mention the most beautiful campus in the world! The professors have taught all over the place at top universities and come here because they want to teach. They are helpful, friendly, and challenging. I've taken classes at UCSB and would pick SBCC over it in a second. This is honestly the most wonderful school!!!

Super Brilliant
After re-entering college after a 8 year break, I was in the computer science department for a year before changing majors. The professors were always available and helpful not just with school problems but also just to talk.

The political science department has great internship programs as well as a program to allow you to write a research paper for credit. I don't feel like another body walking through to my degree.

After completing my education here I have changed my plans. I love the atmosphere so much I hope to transfer to one of the Claremont colleges. After visiting the campus I realized that the "city college" feel is what I want for my degree, not the UC treadmill. SBCC has spoiled me.

The English department is crazy. I was lucky to get a decent professor and rearranged my entire schedule so that I was able to take all my reqs from him. This is an ongoing problem. Foreign Language dept. seems the same way. So be wary if these are your majors.

CC has an honors program, Phi Theta Kappa and a weekly newspaper.
