This school is awful. Engineering class lectures are a joke, professors don't even make a pretense to teach. Class time is a waste of time - you are essentially on your own. No TA's at all, no one to help, textbooks are awful and expensive, often you need to purchase an older second book to even comprehend the material, assuming you can figure out which one to get. Faculty has a horrible attitude problem : Professors usually do not even show up for office hours, when they do they do not answer your questions (in class either). This place is the classic engineering meat-grinder-boot-camp. The objective is to wear you down and get you to quit by loading you down with endless math busywork and treating you like garbage. If I could, I would go to Cal-Poly in a heartbeat, but unfortunately, I can't afford to move there. At least they motivate you to graduate quickly out of sheer hatred for their BS(haha evil joke #2: at 135 units that is about 6 years). They should put up a sign on the engineering building saying " Abandon all hope all ye who enter here : Through me you pass into eternal pain." Footnote: You would think that after the August 15, 1996 shooting of three engineering faculty by an enraged graduate student they would wake up .... but noooooooo | Campus Aesthetics: A, Education Quality: F | | | |

| Bright | My experience at SDSU was a total let down. Being a fine arts major, I felt that the university kept the college of arts as a low priority to the rest of the school. The majority of my teachers were unexperienced grad students that were horrible!! The teachers didn't have office hours for about a month due to FLOODING and the offices they were finally given were shared with 3 or 4 other teachers, in small room (which appeared to be a storage room). The bathrooms were gross, and needed to be re-modeled. There is only 1 elevator for the whole art building, which is 5 stories tall! So getting from class to class with art supplies was difficult. The budget cuts definitely hurt me as a student. I'm a fine arts major, and half of the faculty was laid off and the only art supply store on campus went out of business. The worst part of this all is that my graduation date was pushed back a semester or two due to overcrowding!!! I've only been at SDSU for a semester and will be transferring to another university next spring and I'm looking forward to it. | Surrounding City: A+, Campus Maintenance: D- | | | |

| Quite Bright | Horrible school for engineering. Total boot-camp meat grinder mentality. Prepare to be treated like garbage. Faculity provides second rate education while loading you down with worthless busywork. | Perceived Campus Safety: A-, Education Quality: F | | | |

| Super Brilliant | This school is all about athletics and is the baseline of Cal state schools in my opinion. You are only a number working the system here. If you are not someone who is into basic memorization and working the system for the sake of getting a degree (as most students at SDSU seem to be) and more interested in learning, than don't bother with this place. I came from one of the top ten community colleges in the US within the SUNY system in western NY with an A.S.and as on honors student and this school doesn't even come close to the quality of education I received there. In fact, due to my inability to "dumb down" my work I have been penalized in some classes! I am about to withdraw totally from the college after having experienced once semester there and leave my husband who is attending UCSD (which will not except out of state transfers, or else I would be there) to pursue my degree back in NY where I am treated like a scholar and not a number waiting for a piece of paper. | Campus Maintenance: B, Education Quality: F | | | |
