The owners, Mike and Mark Perry, don't even have college degrees! They bought the college from their mother and hired a woman to run it. One of the brothers drives a $200,000 car and brags that he has the most expensive swimming pool in Tulare county. Faculty genuinely cares about their student but are severely underpaid and treated like common trash. Staff and faculty are often replaced as though the place had a revolving door. The Business Administration (BA) and Clinical And Medical Administration (CAMA) programs are dumping grounds for students that don't fit in anywhere else. New recruits that cannot pass the entrance exams are taken aside and taught to pass the test. These students are often dumped after a few weeks due to their inability to read or write. Teachers are "evaluated" by students on line and career decisions are made based on those comments. Teachers are not given the opportunity to respond to comments nor are they investigated. Leadership at the campus is provided by persons, not because of their abilities, but because of their talent to kiss butt and willingness to work for less than acceptable wages. I was very careful when choosing an online school due to accedidation and found that SJVC was very creditable. I have tried attending tradtional classes at local community colleges in Michigan, but I could never get the classes I needed when I could go due to work and home life. SJVC staff is super friendly, focus on my work and if I am having any problems. This may be a jr. college, but it does fall in the same high standards of the local community college in my area. I love the fact that I can tie in and do class work on my schedule not someone else. Last week I was sick and I could make lecture, but able to tie in view it. If I want to submit my papers at 2am in the morning when I get up for work, I can I don't have to wait to go to class. I am currently working in the Medical field and gaining the experience and better understanding of all the class work. The plus of SJVC over a vocational school is that the college credits transfer,maybe a few won't but after putting to children through very well know colleges already, not all credits transfer for all school anyway.I can not say enough good about SJVC so far..I hope to teach for them one day. Fininancial aid is a complete mess, holds back payments and forgets to submit paperwork, when questioned about that, students are spoken to in a condencending manner. All but one instructor are incompetient, unorganized, condencending, and suffer from extreme power trips. Any movement to make life on campus more tollerable is met with dissaproval and denies. Director has no control over school. Instructors can sway his decision towards their own desires. Equipment and tools are below subpar. Do not attend this campus. Its not worth the money.
