 | Quite Bright | I'm from out-of-state, second semester at SMC. It's a competitive place. I came here bc it was #1 in transfers. I moved from the Midwest all by my lonesome and it's been sort of tough making friends. Most people still hang out with the people they did in high school I suppose and all the international kids keep to their own little packs. The professors are great but the people in admissions, fin. aid, etc are all kind of bitches. Occasionally you'll get the one nice person who actually gives a shit, but 98% of the time they'll be assholes and you have to be rude right back or they'll walk over you. It was a big change for me but there's always stuff do, beach, Hollywood, whatever. You don't need a car, just figure out the bus system and you'll be better off because parking is a bitch anywhere and everywhere (I got two tickets right off the bat). It's an ok campus and I've never felt unsafe and all of my classes have been stimulating/ satisfying thus far. | Faculty Accessibility: A, Campus Aesthetics: C- | | | |

| | Bright | I also went to Riverside Community College many years back and was too young and unfocused to understand how good I had it there. As for SMC, I attend mostly night classes, having to work a full time job, so the students I come in contact with are older and more dedicated in getting the most out of their education. The teachers are helpful and dedicated, though I think they sometimes allow the students to brow-beat them into making their tests easier for the class to pass. The campus appearance is something to be desired but they are trying to improve that. The selection and diversity of the courses are pretty weak but the teacher's helpful attitudes in the classes they have make up for it. Seeing as though this is the only school nearby that worked out with my schedule and location it did it's job and I received my AA degree but if I had RCC or SMC to choose from I would have picked RCC. | Individual Value: A+, Social Life: D | | | |

| | Average | I am a returning student. I use to go to Riverside City College when I was younger and did not realize how good I had it. SMC is OK, I got what I needed out of it and, I must say, the teachers were very helpful and friendly. You tend to get a lot of personal attention at this school if you choose to ask for it but the look and feel of the campus is something to be desired. They are working on that though. There are some really good things about this school (personal attention) and some really bad things (the lack of subject variety and overall look of the campus) but in the end it looks as though they are trying to fix those issues. | Faculty Accessibility: A+, Campus Maintenance: C- | | | |
