I wrote one review that was till today when I learned that for tests on scantron apparentely the college professors expect students to purchase their own at the college bookstore. I have truly never heard of this practice before.

Also the reader the provide for Comm 10 that they put together exclusively giving them a monopoly and that you have to purchase and use to pass Comm 10 not only costs over $100 dollars but is poorly put together.

This college is a scam. My recomendation is skip it. Your ability to transfer depends on you getting real courses not just any and they also allow you to enroll in classes that are reserved and kick you out later telling you it was already full or is reserved for special student groups such as theater or athletes. There is not full access in many of the programs to the classes even if the college website allows you to enroll and shows up on your course list.Bottom line - don't trust what the college says. They are liars.

Santa Monica College has great advertising on their website and a disillusioning reality.
They over in roll to sell out classes and make money - 30,000 students per semester. Classes in your major are impossible to get into forcing students to enroll in any classes that will not count towards your major. The student offices are impossible to get in touch with and their are long lines.

The parking situation is impossible. Even if you enroll in classes being able to access them is difficult. You can arrive at 7:30 AM and the parking lot is almost completely full.

Don't believe the lie that you can get add codes from profs or crash classes. Many professors only have a limited number of add codes and waiting lists. Everyone at this college will tell you you can get add codes to closed classes - I was able to get a spot by emailing months in advance, but don't believe the LIE the Financial Aid office tells you about being able to add classes. At best you will be put into a lottery of dozens of students hoping to be added to one of 5 open spots.

The college will also allow you to enroll in classes to gain money and then kick you out later because the class was really full in the first place.

You will be given $15 in free printing at 10 cents a page.
Also the Bursars office will over charge you for your student fees and never tell you.
Also the college does not maintain current list of student groups - those listed are outdated and may or may not exist.

Over-all skip this college. You could easily spend a semester taking classes that will not count towards your graduation and major - and end up going to school even longer than you normally will to meet your graduation requirements.

Being from the midwest I did not have the chance to personally check-out the college - I regret this now. I have also spoken with other students from California who have said they can't wait to put this place behind them. Don't waste your time - you will be one of 30,000 +
