Sonoma State was great. I wish that I could go back. If I could do it again, I would have spent a semester exchange at another school on the east coast. Otherwise, I loved the geography major and the credential program was decent. I doubt that most of my fellow geography majors, got actual jobs that relate to geography. It is still a fun major and a I learned a lot.

I had two fun years as a undergraduate and two more years getting my teaching credential. The fun you will have will depend on meeting people. It is true that on Friday afternoons many on-campus students go home for the weekend (as did I only growing up about an hour and a half from Rohnert Park). There were plenty of parties in my dorm (Merlot), especially on Thursday nights. I met many great friends and had the best time of my life (so far at least).

I knew many people who smoked pot and got drunk, but no more than the average college. I never felt any pressure to get high and nobody really cared. Most of my friends played the usual card drinking games and things did not get out of hand.

The campus is easy to get around and the library and workout center are excellent. I enjoyed most of my professors and the classes were pretty engaging. The work was easy for me and I was rarely overwhelmed with work. The Credential Program was decent, but could have prepared me better for a teaching job.

The basketball games are one of the few sports that draw decent crowds. They are a lot of fun. I was in the Geography Club and the Newman Club (Cathloic Club). I also played intramural basketball and volleyball. If you are over 21, the wine tasting up in the Healdsburg area is great and usually free!

Rohnert Park is a boring city. They have grocery stores and some restaurants. Santa Rosa and Petaluma have a few clubs and bars to hang out at. Friar Tucks in Cotati is one of the few bars nearby. Sonoma State is no more boring than most of the CSU campuses (with the exception of Chico and Cal Poly SLO). Go to SF State on a Saturday night. It's downright depressing. If you are male, Sonoma has an abundance of hot women. Every friend that visited me commented about all the hot women. Go to Sonoma if for no other reason. The campus has all the diversity propaganda, but most if the students are white kids from the 'burbs (as was I). If ethnic diversity is important to you, maybe SF State or San Jose State is a better choice. I would definitely recommend Sonoma State.

When it comes to Sonoma State University, I'll spare you the lengthy discertation and cut right to the chase.

If you consider yourself and individual looking for a college experience that centers around the immaturity of consuming alcohol, taking drugs, or smoking marijuana, then Sonoma State might be the perfect place for you.

However, if you would rather try and live a respectable lifestyle which includes the abstinence of the trivial ideals mentioned above, you may want to consider attending a different University.

(If you fall under the latter and still decide to become a student here, prepare yourself for a long and arduous first year. The majority of your peers will simply shun you and exclude you from social activities. I mean, who wants to hang out with a self respecting individual when you can flock with the other lemmings and indulge in a lifestyle dominated by substance and false personalities?)

I am currently awaiting a transfer request and, thankfully, it looks as if my stay here is coming to an end.

Make it a great freshman year, or not... The choice is yours.Cheers
