If it is the right place for you, Stanford is the greatest University in the country. The students realize there is much more to life than school, and still pursue school, and their other interests with passion. It lacks some of the typical college party atmosphere that some students are looking for, but we have our fun, and you have to create your own social life at times, it won't just happen. Be sure to visit wherever you go, and make sure that you're at a school that makes you (not parents or others) happy.

Stanford was extremely important in helping me in all situations of life. It is a very competitive school, academically, yet there is plenty of non-academic activities. You learn about academics in the classroom and about life in the dorms. You learn to accept differing ideas, religions, races because you are living with all types of people from all over the world. For HS students interested in Stanford, know that Stanford looks at more than just your grades. You need some extra-curricular activities in your resume. You need to be a solid citizen. Stanford looks for diversity of its students and within its students.

Super Brilliant
I was raped by a man they recruited to hire as a professor at the law school and the police refused to file a report or call him, after spending five weeks complaining and then threatening to sue, the complaint was filed and a dean called the man, and he denied it, and they then called my family and said I lied about being raped. The police officer told me that in similar situations, they work out a schedule to accomodate both parties so that the victim and the perpetrator do not see each other and are not alone together. Other people told me not to say anything. It was a rather traumatizing experience and over and over people told me to go to counseling instead of calling the man who raped me, as I asked. He doesn't think he did anything wrong and as far as I know he'll be hired to work there this fall. Other professors harrassed me and my friends as well, and they just brush under the rug so to speak.
