UCSD is not a party school and you will not have a social life if you do not put yourseld out there such as clubs, organizations, sororities, fraternities. When you meet the right people, UCSD is fun and a beautiful campus! Enjoy the beach!!! Take advantage of the location!!!

Don't listen to the people who broadly rank universities, or focus on University prestige alone. I have worked with great people from all types of universities, and great people without college degrees. Find the place that feels right to you. Make sure you leave your college being able to write extremely well and to express ideas. This will be one of the most important determinants of your future success.

I have lived in the state of California for 3 years now. I went to a California community college for two years and transfered to UCSD. I'm a CA resident according to the state of California. However, the UC system does not consider me a resident and charges me out-of-state fees. If you didn't graduate from a California high school and have not made enough income to support yourself for two years prior to attending UCSD -- you may not be eligible for in-state tuition fees.
