I came here hoping all the things I read online were incorrect.
The truth is the social life (or lack thereof) is sad. Literally, it's just sad to be here. We're probably the only campus in the country that is more dead on the weekends than on the weekdays. If having fun is an important part of your college experience, than you should probably look at other schools. The only kids who have fun are Greek but there are no Greek houses on campus so even that gets a little ridiculous.

The neighboring town is nothing to write home about. La Jolla is beautiful, don't get me wrong, but it consists of retirees, so everything closes early and there are no clubs, sports bars etc.As far as academics go, this school is fantastic. Great professors, good classes etc. UCSD lives up to its academic standards, which should also factor into your decision.

Pros: This school is very prestigious and can be a Golden ticket to getting a good job after you graduate. It is in a cool city with very beautiful weather.

Cons: Very academical challenging. The students here are over achievers. Very large campus, it can take you 15 minutes to walk from ERC to 6th college. Expensive parking

No school spirit.
If yo are looking for a Party school, UCSD is not for you.

this is not a fun school. its very academic, and unless youre in the social sciences or humanities, people do not talk to you. i had very few friends when i went there, and the social life i had existed only because im from san diego and already had friends there. good school, but not an amazing college experience.
