 | Quite Bright | Riverside is a medium (mediocre) university with limited programs for graduate students. The professors in graduate school are not as good as I thought they would be, when compared to other graduate school professors in California. UCR does not give much scholarships for graduate student, but you may find part time jobs on Campus on a limited basis because there are lots of students. But one thing is good: it is a small Campus and med size town, and you have lots of time on your hands to study as a grad student. Also, if you're willing to face the heavy traffic, you can get to the beach for the day and come back home in the eve. Too bad they closed the Bull-N-Mouth night bar because that was a relief for us students so close to Campus on week ends. I had lots of fun on SAT nights at this club. Good luck to you if you go there. Giuse | Starting Job: geologist, Preparedness: C-, Reputation: C | | |

| | Bright | Beautiful campus! I am in the sciences and the program is great! Tons of ambitious, bright students. Many people chose UCR because it was close to their home town. The grading system is surprisingly tough, you have to know and UNDERSTAND your stuff. | Education Quality: A+, Surrounding City: C | | | |

| | Average | I guess every school is going to have some mixed reviews . I have heard some really positive things about UCR that have surprised me, but that is ok, because it is just not the school for me. I came here as a Creative Writing major (it is the only UC that has one) but I am really here because I aimed too high and didn't apply to enough schools. The academics here are not that bad, so that is not why I hate this place with a burning passion.Basically, if you are unique in any way or have a lick of creativity in your brain, you will never get along with anyone. They are all just bratty little girly girls and fratboys. This is supposed to be one of the most "diverse" campuses in the country, but when it comes I also hate Riverside in general. It is ugly, boring, polluted, and quite depressing. So to sum it up, the education you get here isn't as bad as some make it seem, but as far as the people and the location go...those things both suck. I literally count down the days until I get to go home for vacations. I am transferring out this year. I hate this place so much. If you fit a very specific mold, you may enjoy it. | Useful Schoolwork: B+, Individual Value: F | | | |
