A couple of things about whittier.
1. you need a car, you cant do anything without one, because the town of whittier itself pretty much sucks and is a little bit sketchy

2. the students are loud and obnoxious, care little about academics and only care about getting drunk or high every single day and night, yea they're friendly, but just not my type of people

3. the school has a horrible reputation of being close to a community college or a two year college, even a guest speaker that came to the school was surprised to find out it was a 4 year school

did i mention for all this it costs $40,000 a year? yea.I'm trying to apply to transfer to other schools next semester, there is no way I am spending the next 4 years of my life here, let alone spring semester

I would have studied a bit more finance and accounting. Liberal arts prepared me well to be an adaptive person, which is why I ended up in general management roles. I was always weakest on finance (that can be resolved easily). Writing skills are important. In H.S., I would recommend debate team and team sports.

The BIG POSITIVE: Whittier is a GREAT school if you are planning to study hard and try to get into grad school. All my close friends got into really nice grad schools. I myself got into a top-10 research university for the program of my choice. Professors really go out of their way to help you.

The BIG NEGATIVE: If you are trying to get an industry job, you are better off at a larger university that attracts more potential employers. Whittier Career Fairs get attended by the Peace Corps, the Marines, the Red Cross and ... that's about it. You will need to work EXTRA hard to get a decent job, but i know people who've done it.

OTHER ISSUES: Student quality is mediocre at best. A lot of students don't belong there - they either cannot afford the tuition, or simply ended up at Whittier because no other school wanted them. In an average class, you'll experience a huge disparity between the intellectual levels of some students. The lack of creativity of studying is translated to the social scene - it revolves primarily around drinking, the dorms reek of weed, and it is generally a discouraging social setting.
