I moved out to Denver in '99 to attend Belrea in Jan of '00. I was excited about the field and the opportunity that Belrea promised to offer. My recruiter was clueless in helping me find an apartment. I kept telling her that I wanted to live alone, and she kept trying to get me to scher a 2 bedroom with 3 other people. So, I wound up doing the research and getting a place on my own. I was promised a wildlife curriculum and was very disappointed. There was one wildlife course that was $200 and not worth any credits. I spent 2 days listening about botulism in geese at Denver zoo. By the time I graduated, the school and Alameda East had parted ways. So it was up to me to find my own place to do my internship. I am now finding out that NONE of my credits will transfer, even though I have an Associates Degree, unless I get a bio degree from Metro State College in Denver. So, 10 years later, I am an incoming freshman. Yay!! So, still have student loans from this lovely school, am not working in the field, and have to start over. I recommend that anyone wanting to attend this school work in a clinic first and research the programs offered at their local community college.

I attended a four year college before so I didn't find the work all that hard. I'm sure it is a shock to people who have no educational experience beyond high school. The school IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY. I am saddened when I look at the cost of community colleges compared to my 20,000 + tab from Bel_rea. I think I could have excelled at any school and still acheived my career success. I learned far more helpful and truly applicable things during my internship then during school. To be fair, I think the school can help prepare someone to take the VTNE but to be a successful technician? not so much

Bel-Rea is a school all about the money. They lure you in with their ads, convince you to move across the country and then blatently lie to you when you come out here. I was told that I needed probably about $4000 to move out here and get settled until I could get a job. Problem is their administration will not listen to your requests for scheduling, like asking for either all morning classes or all evening classes. So therefore you can not get a job because they schedule with classes 2 hours apart all day. Then you have to drop some classes so you can work and it ends up taking you longer to complete. Also their credits do not transfer so if you finally get wise to their game you can't stop and go elsewhere without repeating their courses. The favorites game is rediculous and if your not a favorite you better work your ass off and be smart. Or my favorite was the teacher who taught to the dumbest person. I was so irritated I was ready to pull my hair out. The teachers are snobby and arogant and most don't give you the time of day. You can tell them the correct way to say your name, but don't count on them ever remembering.

The students have a false sense of superiority when compared with other schools, but they have burned bridges with several good name vets in the area who will no longer take their interns or volunteers. They even now make you buy their scrubs which you can not wear elsewhere. It is the biggest money-grubbing school I've seen.My advice, go elsewhere, community college will charge you a fraction and give you a better experience with more hands on.
