In order to graduate from the engineering school in 4 years, you must take the required course-load of 15-18 credits in an very strict order and never retake a course. Therefore, it is very difficult to graduate in 4 years, most students take an extra semester or two to graduate.

CU is your ideal school if you care more about the aesthetic quality of the campus and "prestigious reputation" than having a meaningful experience. Playboy ranked CU as the #1 top party college in the nation and no matter how much you deny the validity of this source, it is right on the money. I like to party but it's not my life and it gets old after a while. On mondays, you'll hear conversations between students on campus about how many shots they took or rails they snorted. It's very hard to make friends with students because the class sizes are incredibly huge and if you're not all about "ragin' your face off" at dubstep concerts or if your parents are not filthy rich, then you'll feel very alone up here. On the other hand, once you progress further into your major, I assume your classes will be intellectually stimulating. I'm stuck in cores because I'm doing psychology but at least the professors take academics seriously.Don't make your final decision to come here based on the campus tour, do it for academic reasons because good people are hard to come by up here.

CU Boulder is the most beautiful campus in the country!!! Regarding the social aspect of the school, I do not party but a lot of people here do. However, if you do not want to party, it is not forced on you. It is your choice. I can tell from a lot of comments that many out-of-state student came to this school for all the wrong reasons, but you will see many of those students will not be returning in the next few years. It is a beautiful school and does have a very nice academic program. If you want to party, then you can. If you don't, then you don't have to. It is all your choice.
