The student body here at western is divided into four categories, Alcoholics, Stoners, extreme sport enthusiasts, and the occasional dumb jock.
If you do not fit into these categories then western is not for you.
The people at this school are the most immature idiots in the state, the only reason any of them came to this college was so that they could get away from mommy and daddy and get drunk or stoned all of the time.
The staff never knows what the hell is going on and is always too busy to help students, the average prof is in their office for about two hours for three days out of the week.
the only exciting on campus thing that happens here would have to be the alcohol awareness meetings that happen every so often, the school is more worried about students dieing from alcohol poisoning then they are about us having fun.if you read this review and decide that "this sounds fun" then grow the fuck up. you are going off to college and you are an adult now, getting drunk is fun some of the time, but not every day of the week.

Western State is a failure of a college. The teaching staff is full of self absorbed Drs too busy writing their own textbooks to care about their students with very few exceptions. The staff itself is full of idiotic people always in "meetings" and when you do have a chance to talk to you they dont have ANY answers to questions easily found amongst student population or in the depths of the website. The whole art dept. doesn't make any sense and none of the other majors seem structured as well. In the eating hall the dishes are never washed and students are always sick from it. This college is all about raping money out of their students....not that the students even notice. They're all too drunk or high to realize anything happening around them.If you want to be a drug dealer when you graduate definitely come to western. If you value your money, your education and your health anywhere else, even a community college would be a better place.

Western provided a solid education. My professors knew their field and were accessible. I believe Western does an excellent job hiring great professors - my professors are part of my best memories from Western.
I also believe college is a very important time in our social lives. Western provides a very particular environment. It is a small town - very far away from any big city. Sports and being outdoors-ee are valued. There are things to do during the day - but during the night, options are limited. Drinking parties made me realize that diversity is low and patriarchy is high. It left a bad feeling in my stomach. However, doing outdoor sports or being involved in clubs during the day, made me feel involved and valuable. I had to be proactive to strike a balance - and it wasn't always easy to do.Overall, I am thankful for my education at Western but I realize I desired more from the social opportunities during this time of personal growth.
