ECSU was not my first choice. I only came here because the school I was going to go to was way too expensive. But given that, I came with an open mind because I had family who went here, and friends that were going too.

I looked forward to making friends, and making the best out of the situtaion.
The first few weeks are awesome, everything is new, and meeting people is really fun. Everyone is friendly, and partying is a lot of fun. But as the weeks turn into months, everyone starts going home on the weekends, and you end up sitting here by yourself staring at the white walls of the prison cell called a dorm. Or you can go to uconn to party, but that is if you can find a ride, because oh wait, freshman aren't allowed to have cars.

Another thing that I dislike about the university is the academics. The classes are easier than the ones I took in high school and maintaining a high gpa is fairly easy. But if you do need help on work, professors are either hard to reach or just not interested in helping. Trying to get your advisor to set up a meeting to register for classes is pretty much impossible.

As for the students, don't even get me started. This place is just like high school. The campus is small and you run into people all of the time. Furthermore, people will act like your best friend and then end up being fake and just weird. A majority of the students are cliquey and rude, and it's not socially acceptable to just say hi to someone. Also, it's very hard to date anyone here, as people are already in a relationship or they're just looking for random hookups.I'm in the process of transferring right now, I'm not sure where, but now I understand why this is a back up school. A lot of people are trying to transfer, and if you value your sanity, don't come here. The other state schools are much better and the people I know that go to them are having a great time there. This school has a tendancy to make you feel lonely and bored.

Eastern was my fall back school. Hope to transfer soon. It's a 2nd choice because it's 2nd rate. In this economy, I need to be competitive to get a decent job. Not sure that will be possible.Save money, go to community college for 2 years, build your GPA, then apply to a REAL college!

Any body considering going here please for your own good do NOT do it. If you have another choice for college I promise you it is a better choice than eastern. Besides the friends you make in the beginning no student is very friendly. it really feels like high school all over again and for me that is NOT in anyway what i wanted. The teachers can be nice but are easy. If it was for the fact that there is an attendance policy i could have skipped every class and still passed all of them. If your looking for another 4 years like your previous than this is the school for you otherwise i would not go here. They treat the students like we don't know what we are doing or how to do it. If you want to fly through college with great grades and little to no effort this is the school for you.
