I transfered here from a private university and I like it here so much better! The people aren't so stuck up and obnoxious. Plus the professors here, at least in my department, honestly seem to care. The journalism professors all work or have worked at local papers or radio stations. For commuter students it is difficult to connect with other people and it is a major backpacking school but even so I enjoy it!

Perhaps I was overwhelmed with college when I was applying to schools in high school. Southern is pretty easy, do all your homework on time and pay attention?.. that's all that you need to do! I am basically an A student that is a procrastinator and applies little effort. Don't get too caught up in the ?college life? and you'll do fine, most professors are extremely easy and forgiving ( i.e. study guides, note cards, delay due dates). Use to get all the info about teachers before you pick your classes and wait up six in the morning to register. Be sure to advise yourself? prepare your own course of study because advisors here in Southern SUCK! Worst part would have to be finding summer classes to fulfill requirements, and parking! I don't know if I?m becoming overwhelmed about grad school? but I hope Southern prepared me for Columbia University!

SCSU is a very good school, although it is completely underestimated. The kids at my high school all went into the IVy Leagues, while I had to have my name next to Southern COnnecticut State University. I was embarassed, but when I came here, I realized how difficult it was and would not be an easy four years.

There are way too many pre-requisats for the University as well as your major. I am most definitely NOT going to be graduate in four years withought taking summer and winter courses on top of my fall/spring ones.

Many people really don't like the school, which really bring me down and makes me think less of it. I will always defend Southern, especially because of it strong acadmic program, but the social life is not what I expected. I made a few good friends, but the rest were more like acquaintances.

SCSU is definitely a commuter/suitcase scool, so not many people are on campus on the weekends. It gets pretty boring... When there are people though, it can be quite fun.
