Here's the truth about UB:
The University of Bridgeport is a true 'diamond in the rough'. It's been dealt a few bad cards over the years and is steadily putting forth the necessary effort in order become the university that every student deserves. With that said, of course there is going to be some things which are not perfect, but then again, what school is perfect?

UB starts by accepting students who are 'in need of a second chance' so to speak. They understand struggles and tough times therefore they try to pass that down to the student body and is therefore willing to accept students with less than perfect grades and test scores. However, this is where the problem occurs. Many of the students who are accepted are not interested in bettering themselves as a person and as a student. They are fixated on continuing bad habits of skipping class, being lazy/violent/ destructive/ closed-minded/ you name it. Having been here for three years, I've seen this pattern repeat several times.

Heck, I was one of them. My first semester here, I fell below a 2.0 and nearly got myself kicked out. I immediately turned myself around and realized how lucky I was am to at least be getting an education. I am now on the President's list every semester and Im also a student leader.

Yes, the campus is not the most beautiful but with what UB has, they're certainly making the most of it. They spent $1m+ to redesign the library with state of the art equipment to help students study. The campus itself is also located on a remarkable piece of land in Bridgeport on the shore of Long Island Sound, I wouldn't recommend swimming there, but the scenery is great for a run or just to take a walk and chat with friends. The administration is constantly looking for the next project to tackle, and contrary to what the pessimists believe - UB throws lots of time, effort, and money into these projects. They're always looking for ways to give the students what they want and they reach out for us to tell them.

As a student, you get the opportunity to have an amazing impact on campus, now whether that impact is positive or negative is completely up to you. If you decide to do good, to help yourself, help others, and help the institution then you will see that you have nothing less that an army of other students, faculty, and administrators who are willing to work with you and do whatever they can to help.

For me, classes are a little too easy, but I speak with my professors and encourage them to challenge me further. They listen, and they are anxious to hear about what you want to achieve so that they can help in whatever way possible. I love this school. it's not perfect, and neither am I - but if a student here at UB supports the school, it supports back and really, that's the way things should be. This is a true story. If you want to know more about UB, please take a tour, experience it for yourself, and become part of this team dedicated to making Bridgeport better, versus one who expects to sit back and reap the rewards when that time comes. I assure you, your time here will not be ill spent.

PROS: The Dental Hygiene department was always helpful, especially Dr. Meg Zayan and first year instructor Karen Williams. I feel that this may be one of the only truly outstanding programs at UB. Having the distinction of being the first dental hygiene school in the US does help.CONS: my personal opinion- classes I took outside of dental hygiene were not taught by the most qualified teachers. I had a professor that could barely speak English and he was teaching a science course. I feel I had better teachers at a state college. I feel I overpaid for my education, however I am happy with the outcome of my education. Neighborhood is NOT safe. I was afraid nightly when leaving a night class.

so first im going to post things that i saw other people post about the school(they are negative)
-Ignorance is bliss, as people say, and I definitely think that ignoring Bridgeport will be ?bliss.? Let me give you a hint of what kind of people go there. I?m not saying that everyone there is stupid or ignorant, there are quite a few exceptions. Maybe people chose Brideport over a better college because they were offered a full scholarship. I remember back in Jr. High, I used to be friends with a kid named Sean. Looking back into the past, I don?t even know why I even bothered to speak with him. He was your everyday class clown- also not very intelligent- and despised by most of the teachers. I was surprised when he told me that he made it into math honors, but my initial shock soon became disgust after he told me he dropped out because he had to learn harder subjects. Needless to say, he got into a VERY bad college (I won?t say the name because I don?t want to make that college seem worse than it already is). Nowadays, I see him wondering around NYC, dressed in dirty cloths, digging out of trash cans. But the sad part is, when people feels pity towards him and gives him a couple of dollars, he spends it on alcohol and cigarettes. Here?s a warning to the young people out there, if you plan on ruining your life, then go ahead and act like Sean, but if you want to actually succeed in something, put a little effort in your work and you might enter the college of your dreams. I went to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and let me tell you, getting in is NOT easy. They only have a 12% acceptance rate, and 97% of people enrolling have been in the top 10% of their Highschool class.it really is the WORST COLLEGE IN AMERICA LOOK IT UP!!!!!!! IT SAYS ITS THE WORST COLLEGE IN AMERICA. UB struggled to stay accredited. I met my life best friend there dont get me wrong, but the school itself is just horrible like so bad. When you apply for a job they are not going to hire you becaue u went to this school. If you fucekd up go to a community college and try harder and then apply to a better school. your paying alot of money but u get a sucky education. an RA raped a student and was allowed back to the school, a fetus was found in the trash. KIDS WHO DID REALLY BAD IN SCHOOL GET IN THIS SCHOOL IS BULLSHIT ITS SO FUCKIN GHETTO im half black not trying to be racist but the whole fuckin school is all black, or come from india, its so rundown ITS BARELY ACCREDITED DONT GOO
