Positive Negative Neutral Advice
The students at Wesleyan not only are close-mindedBrightUndecided
The students at Wesleyan not only are close-minded and homogeneous, but they think they are open-minded and heterogeneous, which is worse. Don't come here if you want anything but a liberal perspective on the world. I think they should even hang a sign that says "Conservatives Need Not Apply" on the Admissions door, so they'll have less rejection letters to send. Also, a "No Christians Allowed" sign should additionally be hung. I am not conservative, nor am I religious, but I do have respect for a difference of opinion, so if you think you're different, go someplace where you'll get the respect you deserve.Wes has it's good points, but "individuality" is not it. Neither is activism. If you're looking for a hippie school, it hasn't been found here since 2001. It all comes back to those non-existent differences of opinion.

Question
The sociology faculty is out of touch withQuite BrightSociology
The sociology faculty is out of touch with reality. Those I have studied with don't seem to like sociology at all. I was really disappointed because I expected to learn all about sociology--classical theory and methodology and instead you just get all of this negative stuff about how biased sociology is, how there are no right answers (except for the answers your professors think are right), how oppressive the social sciences are. We only learn how to critique but first I think we should learn some substance. How can you put this degree to any use if sociology is such a rotten discipline?

Question
I finished one yearQuite BrightChemistry
I finished one year at the university. I am transferring to Brown. There are a lot of interesting classes and a lot of smart kids. If the students spend as much time studying as they spend smoking pot, the academics would have been on a different level.
