If you loved Jurassic Park you will loveQuite BrightSociology
If you loved Jurassic Park you will love the prehistoric teaching method employed at this University. You would think the Sociology department would be ahead in the field of teaching methods but they perpetuate the status Que just like every other department. Furthermore, the student disability service, makes it impossible to get in! The Disability service requires you to take a new test if your old test is over four years old. The new test cost 1800 dollars. The problem with this is that this policy goes against the International Disabilities Associations guidelines. It goes against the guidelines because retesting results in only 7% of people being found to be in the developmental disabilities category, while the 93% who are already disenfranchised by society must pay more for not fitting into the system. I hate this school, i tell my students to go to Carlton University!

It is a good school, specifically for undergradBrightPsychology
It is a good school, specifically for undergrad and law. Beautiful campus and a really nice city. I found it to be fairly academically rigorous. The classes aren't to large and the professors are pretty accessible for the most part. Cost of living in Victoria is atrocious. Overall it was a good place to do an undergrad.

The professors in engineering/math/physics are horrible.Quite BrightEngineering Department
The professors in engineering/math/physics are horrible. Look at to verify this. Most professors give out D's and F's to more than 50% of the class. They are more interested in research than teaching and are arrogant. They just do not care. No customer service. UVIC has no school spirit. Most of the students I met got fed up and transferred to other schools. You can live on campus for first year and then must move off campus due to shortage of housing. You should just visit Victoria on holiday during May to September (when not raining) and skip going to school there. Victoria is a beautiful location.
