Great place to live and pleasent experience all around. I am a mechanical engineer working in the US now (tax reasons) but I would rather live in Victoria if I could make near the same same wage.

UV is a good school. Their degrees are well respected, but they do not have enough North American exchange opportunities. They are VERY globally focused. The Faculty of Business is all about the future- Asia. Victoria is a great city, the people are helpful and friendly. It is very much a destination college, over 60% of students are not from the island.

The professors and TAs are quite helpful for everything you need. It's just everyone else who does not have evaluations on their performance are subpar at best.

The academic advisors rather turn you away with wrong information then spend a few more minutes with you. Not entirely their fault since EVERY morning a line forms at their office, and all available times are taken by 9 am. And no, you can NOT make appointments, no matter how important your questions, and how difficult it is to wait in a line at 7 am where you may or may not get a same-day appointment.

The Biology co-op director was IMPOSSIBLE to work with. I tried two years in a row to get into the Biology co-op program with no success. UVic's co-op program is a mess. Once again, if evaluations were given on these workers, they would be fired immediately.

Overall, even the Biology professors comment on how the courses offered don't necessarily help towards a professional goal. Well, at least, if you are working towards any Biology career that is not Cell Biology-based.I would encourage any students to look into other options, or understand what this university REALLY offers and what it does not.
