First off I applaud Waterloo for it's StartNot so brightComputer Engineering
First off I applaud Waterloo for it's Start Up scene. It provides students with the opportunity to create their own businesses based on an idea and work towards it. However other than that, coop is meh, it pays for tuition and profs in ECE aren't that great or motivate your interest enough to go to class. In the end you're in the program to get out after 5 years and get a 70k+ salary or work in Silicon Valley and get alot of money. The coop program is great for getting experience but CECA is probably the most shitty system/organization to exist in Ontario. They don't give a shit about students, unless you get in an extreme situation where your employer is physically abusing you they don't support you, instead they support employers since they want jobs. Employers a lot of times can be unprofessional and can fire when they want unjustified even when you're doing a good job. I had to contact CECA due to unprofessional and disrespectful and harrassing conduct from my employer and all CECA could say is "Oh wells." But alot of employers aren't like this but you'll probably have to deal with this some time or later when you get a bad apple, but you learn how to deal with it. Tbh, even though we're known for Engineering Math and science, only come to Waterloo if a. you just want to graduate and pay off your tuition and land a good job(Engineering) 2. Want to study in the Math Faculty 3. Didn't get accepted anywhere else you applied. Engineering here isn't as great as they make it seem.

Professors simply don't teach well or don't teachAverageComputer Engineering
Professors simply don't teach well or don't teach at all. One of the most common phase they said a lot was, "You are computer engineers, right? I don't need to explain to you about that. You go figure it out yourself." This school ruined my life because they simply assuming that students know everything. My first year computer programming course (ECE 150) was ruined because professors assumed that student had all studied C++ in high school. And next year they assumed you know Java from coop experience. How wishful thinking is that? People who already knew C++ before year 1 tended to continuously doing well while those who left behind remained further behind. Thus, without good coop placement and a vicious cycle keeps continue. UW people are arrogant because of their professors. Computer Engineering students constantly been reminded that they are better than computer science (CS). And CS is better than science. And science is better than art department. And art department is better than York and Western. How ignorant? Is this a rebirth of university Nazism?

People watch each others back.AverageComputer Engineering
People watch each others back. But they only watch and do nothing to help or even back stab you. Whenever you have academic or work problem, students will either ignore you or give you "advices" telling you "Did you ever try finding jobs?" or "You need to edit your resume, you should use Aerial font size 12 instead of Times New Roman and put a space in between your address and telephone number." Thanks Waterloo. But no thanks for your "valuable" advise. A good school turns dumb people into smart. Waterloo turns smart people into dumb and they are proud of doing that all years.
