AU is a wonderful University. They really do have strong programs in Humanities, especially Languages, and political science, international relations, economics and philosophy. However, if you are counting on financial aid as a make-or-break, then do not be fooled. AU will without exception take back the vast majority of the scholarships and grants by junior and senior. Seriously, I had a 3.9 after my sophomore year, and they cut my scholarship in half. I couldn't afford the school anymore and had to transfer. Talking to all my friends, the cuts after sophomore year are UNIVERSAL. So, if you can afford it or are willing to take big loans, go here! It's a great school socially and academically. But the Financial Aid Office will wipe the floor with you if you're counting on them!! Be warned!!

Quite Bright
While there are a few things I would change about this school (administration, housing and dining, funding for the sciences), I am very happy I came here. My professors have been fantastic - so helpful, open and understanding - and you'll meet a lot of great people. The school is more fratty than it likes to admit it is, but not overwhelming. AU gives great merit aid, and if you're offered some, it's great value.

Not so bright
This university has a tradition of great professors, and programs, however, if you value your privacy or civil rights, I don't recommend this university. They evicted me from my dorm for no reason. When I filed a complaint they wouldn't comment, citing respect for my privacy, this after having gone through my dorm room and personal belongings without my permission.
